Reading and Writing English tuition for children

Are you moving back to an English speaking country soon and want to give your child's reading and writing a boost?

Do you want to give your child some extra English tuition before you go off for the summer holidays?

Is your child in Kindergarten and you want to start them reading and writing before they move up a grade?

I have spaces available for short courses of English tuition available between mid-May and July. Lessons are held in the centre of Thalwil and are on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon. Tuition can also be continued in August after the summer break.

For more information please visit http://smartowls.wordpress.com/ or PM me.

Speaking is a very important skill I agree but reading and writing are also useful!

Thank you for your helpful comment and I will mention that in the lessons we do lots of talking and discussion.

I think although of course you can learn english by speaking, there is a big difference between being fluent in speaking english and being fluent in writing english correctly.
There are many english speaking children in the Swiss school system, who of course are fluent english speakers, but if they are asked to write a short story in english struggle, with word order and grammar, as they literally use the german word order that they have learned in school. Of course they are also a lot that can write perfectly well too.
I think to anyone who is english speaking as a first language, it is obvious when you read english written by someone who is not english as a first language. There are just subtle differences in the language and flow (even if it is extremely good and much more impressive than I could ever do as a second language).

Re: English literacy tuition for children

Are you even in Switzerland? Your profile says Islamabad. You appear to be randomly hijacking my thread which is advertising my tutoring business.

I suggest if you want a debate on how to learn English (whether spoken or written) then start a new thread. I am guessing you are either a troll or trying to reach your 10 posts.

Re: English literacy tuition for children

I offer reading and writing tuition in Thalwil for children aged 4 - 12. I only work with two children during each 55 minute lesson so each child gets lots of attention and their own learning plan.

I am extending my hours on a Friday and have a free space on Fridays from 13.15 - 14.10. This can be for a beginner or a child with some reading/ writing experience. The first lesson in January takes place on Friday 11th.

If you are interested in finding out more about this time slot please PM me or find more information at http://smartowls.wordpress.com/.
