| | Private teacher; Photoshop, design, drawing and painting
Hi All!
Please contact me if you're interested in taking private lessons on the following 2 subjects:
1. Photoshop for photographers, graphic designers and 3D artists
2. Traditional drawing and painting
I also have professional experience using 3D creative software such as Maya and 3D Studio Max.
All levels, beginners to advanced, welcome. Ages 15 years upwards, although I will consider taking younger children for drawing and painting classes.
I enjoy teaching and am passionate about the subjects. I pride myself on being able to communicate complex ideas in simple terms and I do this patiently and with understanding. My relevant education and employment experience includes:
- Employed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to work on videogames for the Playstation 2 and PSP platforms; creating 3D environments and characters
- First Class Honours degree in Computer Animation
- Studied under award-winning figurative fine artists such as Brendan Kelly
- Taught Photoshop and 'introduction to computers and email' at a multicultural resource centre
You'll find contact details, a gallery and additional information on my website.
PM me
'Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards!
Chris

Hi there,
I would be potentially interested in taking a class in Photoshop sometime after January 15, 2008.
Would you teach out of your home? Would this be a class with several individuals?

Thanks for taking an interest, Rich and sonnyk!
The structure of the lessons is flexible and, ideally, would begin with a meeting prior to commencement so I can find out what each person wants to achieve. Based on this information I would then create a lesson plan taking into account the individuals availability and duration of the course.
For example, goals such as 'creating and editing images for the web' or 'photo editing for photographers' could be structured in the form of 10 2-hour lessons spread over a 10 week period. Equally, I could provide a full-day course, although this isn't advisable as there is often too much information to take in in one go.
A lesson which may not prove very popular but I highly recommend is a 'fast-track introduction to traditional art theory, as taught by the Old Masters, applied to contemporary design'.
The location of the lessons is also flexible. I currently don't have the facilities to accommodate more than one person so teaching will be one-on-one (however this may change). If the person has their own copy of Photoshop installed on a personal computer I'm happy to teach at their preferred location. Otherwise I can teach from home.
If you have any other questions feel free to get in touch.
Cheers!
Chris

Hi Katharina'!
My knowledge of website building is fairly limited to a program called Freeway for the Mac - http://www.softpress.com/
It's relatively cheap and very easy to use in that it requires no programming knowledge whatsoever. You need only know your website-related details to upload your work.
If you decide to buy this software and find you need some help building an advanced website, I'll be happy to guide you through the design and implementation. However Freeway has very good support from the developers and for a basic website you shouldn't have any trouble.
'Hope this helps!

I am interested in "Photoshop for Photographers". My problem is I have Photoshop Elements 3 on Mac, and some of the things I want to do can only be done in Photoshop CS, which is way too expensive and probably would not run very well on my 450 MhZ Powermac.
I also have plenty of experience on the Mac with "Transmit" and "Taco HTML Edit", which I use to do my entire website without templates of any kind. http://homepage.mac.com/stevenbutterworth/
So if any of you have expressed interest in website creation/modification etc I am willing to help.
One example I want to do is take an image of a car, select just the car and change the background.

I have a fully-licensed copy of Photoshop CS, so for the purposes of the lesson you'll have a fairly up-to-date version to practise with. | Quote: | | | | | One example I want to do is take an image of a car, select just the car and change the background. | | | | | Photoshop is such a popular program because of its flexibility; you can approach a task using several routes. So it's just a case of going through Photoshop's major 'tools' through a variety of exercises, learning their strengths and weaknesses. Once you have a good overview of the program you'll be able to approach any project, be it images for web, photo editing or digital painting.
You're welcome to visit my website where you'll find examples of work created wholly/partly using Photoshop, under the 'digital' tab.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions; either by PM or using the contact details under the 'contact' tab on my website.
Cheers!

Hi! Chris
I am so glad that I stumbled upon this post, I would love to learn Photoshop CS2, I already use it for photo editing/manipulation/scrapbooking, but I would like to learn in depth. Have you already started the classes? where will the classes be held & when?
Thanks.

Thanks for dropping by, Raji!
Nope, lessons haven't started as I've been extremely busy recently finding a permanent job; particularly important as my 6 month permit is shortly to expire.
Thankfully, I started my first day at work yesterday so I can now go about finishing off a Photoshop lesson plan. When that's done I'll forward you the details.
Cheers!

Well done mate, glad to hear about it. You won't be selling the household appliances to fix your oil and canvas habit now. |

Hello Cas,
I am also very interested in Photoshop classes.
At the moment I am paying somebody to "jazz up" photoos to then be printed on canvas, for my customers. I sit down with the customer untill I have a clear idea of what he/she wants and then I get my photoshop-guru in and he does the actual work.
It would help me a lot if I would have some basic skills so I can do maybe some quick mock ups for the client, to help them visualize the outcome. People find it hard to imagine what it is going to look like in the end...
Under references on my website www.photoxl.ch you'll find some examples of what I would like to be able to do myself.
Just one problem (challenge ;-)... I live in Geneva and you are in Zurich...
I guess an intens 2-3 day course would make it worth coming to Zurich, but as you've stated before: it is a LOT of info to take in!!
Do you perhaps have a liaison in Geneva??
Thanks for any advise,
Stefanie
