Hoping to go watch shopping on Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich on November 1st. I hope a few stay open, even though it is a holiday.

No problem there - as November 1st is a catholic holiday only, all shops should be open in Zurich..

There will be lots of Ticinesi in Zurich tomorrow, as it is traditional for them to go there shopping on Nov. 1st.
