Sure Sharon
it's all perfectly freezable, but by all accounts, it gets eaten pretty quickly!
I understand you're not wanting to pick them up in the pub with your kids.
Give me a call on 079 655 08 95 or, 044 742 12 03 and we can arrange something. FYI, I'm based in Dübendorf, but I prepare the meat at Segantini catering AG in Adsliswil. So if either of those is convenient.
BBQ packs in summer would be no problem, just let me know the quantity, and type of sausage, or any other special requirements.
Colin | Quote: | | | | | Hi Colin
I'd like to buy some bacon & sausages - is there anyway I can get them other than Big Ben? I've 2 small children and the thought of dragging them through town is just too much to bear at the moment...
Can you freeze both? Also how about BBQ packs in the summer - probably more for the sausages than the bacon..
I know you don't fancy a shop at the moment but how about a stall at the market in Burkliplatz on a Friday?

Hi Colin,
Have been buying the bacon from Jelmoli for a couple of months now - love it, great stuff.
Will they also be selling your sausages?
Cheers

Not at the moment. Their mark up is quite high too.
Pop into Big Ben Friday or Saturday evening, and get some, or give me a call on the number earlier in the thread. | Quote: | | | | | Hi Colin,

Sorry to hear about the job Colin. As other's have said in the other thread I too would be interested in a butcher who can produce the traditional British/Irish cuts of meat. We really miss a good roast joint on a Sunday.

I finally tracked down Colin and got some bacon and sausages
We had bacon & sausage sandwiches last night - white bread and HP sauce - delicious!!!!! Its proper bacon not that wafer thin stuff you get from supermarkets in the UK and the sausages are great too - will be even better when cooked on the BBQ (I love BBQ cooked food)... roll on summer
We're having a full english at the weekend - bacon, sausage, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes - only thing missing is blackpudding!

S | | | | | Black Pudding can be got here .... Naturally Orkney, however the sausages & bacon are not up to Colin's standard.

I've left this a week before posting further, but haven't really had any firm response from individuals about specific cuts. If anyone has special requirements, I suggest they call me to discuss it on the number earlier in the thread.
BBQ packs I'll prepare on demand. I would say 10 days notice is good, as I have to order the meat and cure it, but again, call me.
The bacon and sausages went down a treat. Some were picked up from Big Ben, some personally. It's always nice to meet my buyers, as I didn't always get the chance in Jelmoli. Glad you enjoyed them Sharon, I've had some great feedback.
Black pudding is something I've considered, but there really needs to be a bit more demand If I'm to make a batch of 10 or 20 kilo.
On an up beat, I had a long meeting with a company in Oerlikon this week, about providing my produce for them to resell through Manor. This is still at an early stage, but could be ideal for those people in Bern, Basel and further afield that have expressed interest, provided there is sufficient ongoing demand. I'll keep you posted.
Many thanks all for your support, and enjoy Easter.
Colin

I'm stuck this week. They only deliver the meat twice weekly, and as it was Easter last weekend, there was only one delivery this week, and I've missed it.
I've got more ordered for next week, so please call me and reserve some. 079 655 08 95 or, 044 742 12 03.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to give you an update on my current position, as I've been pretty busy the last six weeks.
Turned out that Jelmoli were not within their rights to simply drop me after I had worked on contract so long, so they had to re-employ me until the end of May. Anyway, my last day was Sat 31st, so now I have more time for the bacon, sausages, BBQ packs or other special requests.
A couple of people that were at the Burns night in January, have suggested a traditional Céilidh, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceilidh. I would be interested to know what the response would be in terms of numbers, as the place I had in mind only has room for 100.

Hi Colin!
I had read something about your business a while ago. I wanted to let you know that the International community fair was created to be used as a platform to help small business owners who are expats, or who have expats in mind. It s a not-for-profit event, and a table is only 60 Sfr. (This was formally knows as the Parenting Fair, but there was a continued interest for a larger "scope" that the name was changed)
We are running out of tables fast! If you are interested, go to: www.internationalcommunityfair.com
Good luck with your business!
