Long-term airport parking Geneva offered

In light of a recent situation I was in, and the friendly responses I received from EF members, I thought I would return the favor for anyone who might be in need in my area.

I live about 15 minutes from Geneva (Cointrin) airport in Chevry, France and have a single-car covered garage in which you could store your vehicle for as long as you needed, for 50% of what it would cost you at the airport. On top of that, I would make every effort (depending on times) to transport you TO and FROM the airport with my own vehicle for 5chf each way (taxis cost at least 40eur).

Send me a PM if this is something that might interest you.

Today! You decide today to post this! LOL.

I leave tomorrow at 6am. So that won't work. But thanks for the offer.

Re: Long-term airport parking Geneva offered

Is there a possibility of parking the car outside, as our car is probably too high for indoor car-park (Land Rover Discovery)- that would be awsome.

It's a private garage, not a car park and so I imagine it should be able to squeeze. If it is ever the case that it does not fit, however, we do also have outdoor space. The former would probably be more preferable, however, as it is protected from the elements as well as theft/accidents. In any case, let me know the dimensions and I can do a quick measurement.

I'm not sure how to go about addressing issues of damage liability. On the one hand, if something were to actually happen to the car and, on the other hand, if the owner were to claim something happened in their absence when it did not. Would a short contract waiving me from any responsibility suffice? The onus of trust would rest on the 'renter' then... thoughts welcome.

Hi, have folks taken you up on your offer for parking yet or are you still in the market to talk. I would be interested in keeping a car there all year round, with occasional visits (from Brussels) during the winter months. (property in st gervais).

Re: Long-term airport parking Geneva offered

Surprised I haven't been getting any hits for this... any summer holidaygoers want to take care of their airport parking in advance?

I'd love to- but our flight is early, so don't think it is going to work, sadly.

We will be quite likely to use it in October if it's still available then.

Haha! Okay glad to know that there's still interest out there.

I avoided bumping because I've been forbade by mods from doing so in the past without any 'significant' update, i.e. bumping for the sake of bumping. Anyways, I'll try to do a reminder every month or so if I can get away with it. (and just replied to your e-mail)

OK! I plan to be around here in October, so shouldn't be a problem. If you want to "reserve" in advance, I'm also OK with that.

For the sake of transparency, here's the message I just sent to Sbrinz:

Quote:
Of course, feel free to pass the message along to anyone who might be interested. English, French, German - no matter!

At the following link, you can find the airport rates that I use (budget long-term parking is P51 and P26): http://www.gva.ch/en/desktopdefault.aspx/tabid-65/. Daily rate would be 29chf but it's more economical for longer stays; one month, for example, comes to 399. On the left hand side of the page, there's a calculator so you can see exactly how much it would cost for a given stay.

Whatever the airport rate is, I would charge 50% which includes one airport pick-up and one airport drop-off. If for whatever reason I cannot manage to make it for the pick-up/drop-off, I would deduct the cost of the taxi ride.

All that being said, the only additional thing I would ask is that the 'client' signs a form waiving me of responsibility for any apparent damage. In all likelihood, I would not even open the garage door in the person's absence, but I don't want anyone falsely claiming that a "new" scratch suddenly appeared on their Maserati.

Let me know if there's any interest!

Of course there is plenty of free parking in white boxes quite close to Contrin Airport, which is what I have done about 10 times in the last couple of years.

Really? Long term? I wasn't aware. Might help to describe where exactly...

It's all a question of risk really. What I offer is an indoor/covered spot with peace of mind that no natural or human elements will cause damage. Relatively risk-free.

I would gladly pay to keep my car away from the streets when im away. Thankfully i have my own closed parking place and a direct airport connection by bus

Damn, I was just in the UK for 4 days on holiday & hadn't seen this. Spent 80CHF at Mövenpick car park - more than my flight:-(. Will definitely think of this offer next time.

Out of curiosity - why Moevenpick rather than the airport? Four days should run you about 68.- CHF in P51 or P26.
