If you don't mind me asking, what program do you use to record your sounds with?
I'm slowly getting started with my music but the music program I'm using isn't all that great for vocals. I was just wondering if you could help me out as to what to look for since you have obviously had some success haha.

He uses Logic Pro...........as do i.

With recording vocals it does not make much of a difference what program you are using as such be it Protools, Logic, Cubase, Reason, Garageband, Fruity Loops etc...

The most important things are the room you are recording in, the mic you are using, the compressor/mic-pre you are using, the input levels set on the mic. Also are you using a 'pop-shield'? Is your mic set up properly? each mic is different and yours might not even be facing the right way.

If you give me more info regarding your setup i can hopefully assist you.

cheers

Morph has no particular reputation at present
Re: English Recording Studio

Hi Erries,
I do indeed use Logic Pro, as Swiss Cheddar says, and all those factors he stated do have an influence, along with a few others, such audio interface type, input gain, mic diaphragm distortion, mic amp distortion, etc, etc.
What software are you using, Erries?
Feel free to pm me, if you have any questions.

Re: English Recording Studio

Hi Morph, Swiss Cheddar, and others

I am Shimky, based in Zürich for 10 years now. I'm an amateur musician in my spare time. Well, at least, I was...

Quite a long time ago I upgraded from GarageBand to Logic Pro to finally get my hands on MIDI-Out but have been having a nightmare ever since with setting the whole thing up. In fact, I gave up after trying several times!

Is there a Logic expert out there who could help me out? It's a crying shame that I'm not using my software and keyboards because I've become so demotivated.

Here is a link to an old track I did, so you get an idea of the sort of stuff I compose(d): http://www.macjams.com/song/30220

Looking forward to hearing from you

If you can explain your exact problem in more detail i might be able to help.

Failing that you can join www.gearslutz.com and post your problem in their new 'newbies questions' section. Again if you post there you will need to provide more specific info regarding what equipment you have and how it is currently wired up.

There is alot of videos on youtube showing how to do basic and also complex functions in Logic.

cheers

Re: English Recording Studio

Hi SC, thanks for your reply.

I have in the past read a lot of tips from gearslutz, logic-users-group and others, and I've watched several youtubes by SFLogicNinja, but I never seem to get anywhere. After hours and hours of frustration, I always give up. It's been a nightmare.

What I really need is someone to come over and spend a few hours with me to help set up the gear properly and teach me how to do it on my own.

Is there anyone willing to do this?

SFLogicNinja does do cool videos........my personal favourite is this:

Send me a pm with your gear list and highlight what areas you are struggling with.

Also another thing worth looking into is the courses at http://www.pointblankonline.net/

Very good courses available at very good prices.
