Re: Electrician, handyman [ZH / AG / LU / ZG]

Long overdue thanks to Jose.
He helped me out with the VDSL wiring in my new appartment in July. Arrived on time, well equipped and did a smashing job.
Would definitely recommend him.

Hello EFers

Just a note to also praise Jose's services.

He came over to our new apartment this weekend and installed around a dozen light fixtures for us and did a fantastic job.

Friendly, efficient, competent, and attentive - highly recommend to all.

Thanks Jose!

Re: Electrician, handyman [ZH / AG / LU / ZG]

Hi Jose,

We need some help moving wardrobes (disassembling partially, reassembling) and installing a new wardrobe into a third room, in the last week of June. We will also need some help with hanging up paintings etc (though that may have to be during a subsequent visit)

Would you be able to give me a quote for how much you think it'll cost? We'll be in Zug.

Thanks!
Indy

Re: Electrician, handyman [ZH / AG / LU / ZG]

I agree with all the recommendations above: look no further if you need an electrician! We live in Basel and had one big ceiling light that needed to be installed, one small ceiling light and one dining table that needs to be installed. Really wanted everything done soon. Luckily I found this post here so sent José a message. He replied in less than half an hour and luckily he was free the same day in the afternoon! He came on time, along with his son who was on summer break and wanted to help. They were very polite, very nice and very professional. José gave me some very good advice and would explain in details. They were super efficient and finished everything under 3 hours. The end result was just perfect. His price is very reasonable as well. We would definitely hire him again when we accumulate some jobs that need to be done.
Thank you very much José!

Hi,

I really recommend José.

He came for a few ceiling lamps as well as setting up the swisscom line for the internet connection.

Very good job and fair price.

Cheers

Mike

Thanks Jose for the prompt and professional service. Also, thanks for searching and ordering the damaged part for my lights.

If anyone needs a good electrician, I would recommend sending Jose a PM.

Re: Electrician, handyman [ZH / AG / LU / ZG]

Had Jose come over to my house last month. We shifted into our new house in Kloten, Zurich and we needed to fit in various lamps, paintings, clocks etc.
Wrote an email to Jose. He replied promptly with all the details. With few email exchanges, I got all the information needed.
Jose came on dot for the appointment. He had all the tools required, was very efficient and good workmanship. Also, gave good suggestions and helpful tips.
Very happy to have chosen Jose - would definitely recommend him.
Thanks Jose!

Re: Electrician, handyman [ZH / AG / LU / ZG]

We cannot recommend Jose highly enough.

We moved to Buchs SG some weeks ago and got in touch with him about various (complicated!) things that we needed doing. He came back to us almost immediately with ideas, designs, quotations and ended up doing a fantastic job with everything that we asked of him (he designed and built enclosures for our cats on our three balconies, then insect proofed them all, hung numerous lamps for us, hung paintings and other hangings etc).

He takes immense pride in his work and is extremely thoughtful - always using the best materials for each situation. The other thing we appreciated so much is he really wants to maximise the savings for his clients - making excellent use of every moment of his time. A couple of times he also brought his sons to help - also to help us save time - they were lovely too!

We hope to see him again some time, thanks again for everything Jose! :-)

Re: Electrician, handyman [ZH / AG / LU / ZG]

This is a long overdue testimonial!

I've had Jose over twice now, and can't speak highly enough about the quality of his work, attention to detail and swiftness to get things done quickly.

We first contacted Jose to have some expensive (well, expensive for us!) Philips Hue lamps installed which we had saved up a while for, and he got the job done quickly and smoothly. Being relatively new to Switzerland at the time, we were cautious about unlicensed tradespeople and poor quality work, but this was not the case with Jose. He was cautious, double-measured everything before drilling and cleaned up after himself to make everything look as though he was never there, but the lamps had magically installed themselves

The second job was a lot more of a pain with three things - A complex dining table lamp from Cult Furniture that needed to be assembled and installed, a long kitchen light installation, and running some incredibly stiff Cat6A cable from the laundry where the internet connection is, to the TV and study.

Jose has all the tools needed to do a good job, and I was pleasantly surprised when he took out a 3D laser measuring system and long ruler to show us where the dining table light should be placed vs where we thought it should be, so it would be centred in the room above the dining table - even finding out we had the dining table off by ~3 inches or so from where we thought was the middle

The kitchen light was measured in the same way with the laser to make sure it was installed dead center.

The hardest part was running the ethernet cables. I thought it would be a simple job, but the people who constructed our apartment didn't label anything (of course) and it turned into a task of needing to run a cable snake through ~20 conduits to find out where they went from the distribution board. After the first 3 or 4 I was prepared to give up, but Jose 'reverse engineered' the conduit bunches in his head based on the first ones, and worked out where he needed to go. Easy work after that, and a job made a lot shorter than I would have spent trying (and failing) to do it myself!

We're saving for some more cool ceiling lamps and will definitely get Jose back to install them.

The biggest thing I'd say is get a professional like Jose to do it vs trying to do it yourself. He knows his stuff, has a wagon full of specialised tools to use that I can almost guarantee you won't have, and you know the job is going to be done well by someone who could probably do it with one arm tied behind his back.. You won't need to have someone come back and fix things or think that something looks wrong.

His hourly rate is very competitive given it's Switzerland, that he is licensed and insured and has lots of experience.

Hi Jose,

as I've just registered on this forum, I do not seem to have enough privileges to contact you directly via pm. May I contact you in any other way?
I'd need to install 2 ceiling lamps in Zurich. Thanks a lot!
