Get your U.S. Ham Radio License in CH

Hi All,

This is a QST

A group of Swiss licensed Ham Radio Operators will be administering exams for U.S. Ham Radio License on Sunday, October, 31st from 10:00 to 13:00 at the Surplusparty Zofingen. Website:
http://us-lizenz-hb9.jimdo.com/prüfungen-termine/surplusparty-zofingen/

We team of 9 examiners , who are all US licensed Ham Radio Operators and are administering the exam under the accreditation of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

We will administer exams for all U.S. license classes (grades) and this will be in English. (it is a U.S. license!)

The opportunity is to get the U.S. license (issued by the US Federal Communication Commission) in CH, which is acknowledged by Swiss Federal Office of Communication (OFCOM) via the CEPT treaty. (i.e. you can also get a Swiss call sign and frequency privileges - you keep the US license).

Study material is available for purchase at the ARRL website (www.arrl.org) , these include the question pool that will be used in the test (in random order).

Therefore, if you want to sit for this exam its best you source your material now and start studying. The Swiss OFCOM recognizes license by class, so if you only take and pass the novice exam - you will only get a novice Swiss license with respective call sign (HE3) and so on. If you plan to take multiple exams on the same day I don't see any barriers provided you pass them in sequential order with attention to time (we are there for 3 hours). (you won't be able to take the 'Advanced' test unless you pass the 'Novice' test).

Please read the website for complete information and contact me via PM for any additional information.

I will try my best to answer.

Cheers,

Carl, HB9FGN (US: W2CDR)

N.B. A shameless plug for a Zurich Ham Radio Group on "Meetup" - please join!

Are you sure this is correct information? BAKOM as far as I know only recognize full licenses under its reciprocal licensing agreements.

I could be wrong as its always getting easier to obtain a license.

Re: Get your U.S. Ham Radio License in CH

In December I got my US Extra license (AI6NB) and just recently got my Swiss callsign (HB9FZV).

I'd be happy to sign up as a Volunteer Examiner to help out with future US licensing examinations. Let me know how I can help.
