You may want to avoid cocking your food in the future. It puts customers off.

Kidding aside, your website looks great and the photos are fantastic. The only things missing for me are: 1) some way to see your whole menu in one place at one time and 2) some way to print out the whole menu.

The reason I suggest this is that I often print out an online menu to discuss with my wife what we're going to order -- we discuss at the table, not in front of the PC.

Good luck with your new business!

Hahahah silly me! I will edit this! I'm Greek so my English are a bit off track sometimes haha!

Thank you so very much for the suggestions!

It is indeed a great idea to have a downloadable and printable full menu! I will design one and upload it on facebook page and website! Thank you so much for this

Thank you gata! We do actually deliver to nearby cantons such VS, FR and GE. But we have a minimum order! You can send me a message on Facebook messenger or contact@greekcuisinevaud.ch! I am always online of facebook messenger so you will get a super fast reply! Unless it's 3am which I will be probably sleeping :P

Looking forward to your message!

And Glarus!
Hopefully business grow bigger in the near future and maybe we will be able to add Glarus too!

In the meantime, if you are planing to visit Lausanne, we can arrange a nice set menu for you to collect from our house in Epalinges! Just tell us 2 days in advance as I need some time to cook for everyone.

Sorry about the two days window, as we are not a restaurant to source ingredients, prepare them and then freeze them and when a customer wants x-y-z foods just unfreeze-microwave and voila. This is not how we work. So we need some time to go purchase the ingredients fresh and start cooking 3-4 hours before you will get your food delivered, Greek food takes a respectful amount of time to prepare, we like to slow cook our meals haha!

We prefer to delay rather than offer frozen food

How are you at Galaktoboureko? I've never quite got it right after many attempts, and if we were visiting Lausanne, that would be a real treat.

I am planing to add it on the menu, I'm just waiting for the photographer to come back from his vacation as I don't have a proper photo to add! I have a few on my phone but I prefer to do it properly However I'm still thinking of how I should name it for the people in Switzerland, Shall I go Galaktompoureko or something more familiar to the Swiss/English/American people?

If you are planing to visit Lausanne, you can pre order some food from our website and I can make a small trey for you to take at home as a treat And I promise you, it will make the trip worth haha

We will also add some Greek products to our shop, just waiting from the customs in Bern to go through all paperwork I sent them, as I'm planing to import some Wild herbs organically grown from Greece and also Greek mountain tea and Extra virgin olive oil from my family's farms!

It's just the Swiss customs need to spend some time on the Organic certifications, ISO's and packaging I sent them

But please, feel free to like our page and when our products are cleared from the customs you will definitely get notified Prices will be representing the quality of my products, like my food! I went to Migro and got several olive oils, Aligro a Greek Oregano (wanna be) and paid 13 CHF for 500ml, 5CHF for Greek Olives Kalamata (not even close to the real ones) and 15CHF for 1Kg Oregano and they were like tasting poison. I have no idea how these people manage to sell such products!

Thankfully, I cook with my olive oil, olives and herbs from Greece. All from Kalamata and Trykorfo in Peloponissos if you know the place. We are famous for the best Olives and Olive oil worldwide

Re: Greek Cuisine in Vaud - Home Made Greek Food!

I totally agree about the Oregano. We always bring a large bag of the family grown stuff when we go. I don't know Kalamata personally, but my partner's father was from Elika, so he's registered there and they still have olive groves there that his brother tends. Many of his cousins still live in Neapoli. We're over there in two weeks time for his neice's wedding in Athens.

I will! Whats the facebook page?
Of course!

It's https://www.facebook.com/GreekCuisineVaud

Yes it's such a shame all these big super markets they bring such a low quality of products! I tried to source some ingredients locally and I managed to get some excellent meat products and vegetables from two different farms! I need to drive around 25 minutes and their prices are a bit high, but I really really prefer to earn trust and good reviews rather loads of money and bad quality!

After all you get what you pay for isn't it? haha

Enjoy the Greek wedding!

As for the Kantaifi I am still trying to source good Kantaifi filo as it is super time consuming to make my own Kantaifi filo. I found a Turkish and Arab shops but they are not fresh. Hopefully I will find something soon and I will add it on the website menu!

Personally, I prefer to see the original name of a dish with an explanation of the ingredients & cooking process. The standard of photography that you're using is excellent and speaks volumes about the quality of the food.

Something that you might not be aware of, all the Brits who miss cheese pasties from the UK, would be well advised to buy tiropita, which is like the best cheese pasty ever. Can't wait to go to Gregory's at the airport.

Thank you for the message Blueangel!

If you visit our website you will see for all products I have both Greek and English names! I also include all the ingredients on each product description! As for the cooking process I will be running a blog where I will explain in detail how each dish is made! I will be updating 1 food each week on FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter and our website's blog! So you can follow our pages and keep updated

I will be also adding new variations of each pastry as in Greek we use a lot of different filo!

For example
Tiropita with Filo
Tiropita with Sfoliata (Puff pastry)
Tiropita Kourou (it's a soft thick filo made with milk, eggs and flour)
Tiropita Strifti (rolled in spiral shape)
Tiropita Roll (rolled in cylinder shape)

Same goes to other pastries like Spinach with feta cheese, Kreatopita 0 Kefalonia Pie (Meat Pie known in England) and many many many more which will be added with the time

I just started an I believe 37 products it's a good way to start haha! My grandmother's recipe book has over 150 foods, it's insane, even after 17 years of cooking non stop I didn't manage to make all of the recipes yet

Next product that will be added is Kleftiko if you heard of it! It's an amazing dish with meat and vegetables! The original recipe is since 1800 that we were invaded by the Turks and in order to hide from them, we were cooking this food underground! My grandmother used to tell me when I was a child, that her grandmother was adding the meat and the vegetables in many layers of black clothes and literally burying the food underground. The sun in Greece reached almost 50 degrees under the shade in July, 1977 so imagine what are the temperatures under the sun itself haha!

Enough to cook some food I guess :P The reason they did this is because if they had fire, the smoke produced would reveal their position and the Turks would go and kill them! Hence the name Kleftiko which means Thief in Greek but actually means Hidden in a way. So I believe this food not only has a great taste and it super soft and full of vitamins, it also has a great history

Ok enough with Greek Food History ahah! More information to my blog which I will start very soon this week

Gregory's is indeed a nice take away pastry shop

I've been told the same by my mother-outlaw My Kleftiko is ok, but nowhere near as good as Mamma's, and I've never attempted Pastitsio because my partner warned me it couldn't be as good as his Mamma's, but doesn't every Greek boy say that?! I've added your facebook page and wish you all the very best.
