Computer Problems? I can help.

Computer Problems?

I can help.

I am an expat living in Geneva. I have over 20 years of experience with computers and can take care of all your computer problems or needs.

System running slowly? I can get it running fast again, like when you first bought it. And, better still, I can make sure it won't slow down again.

Want to add wireless capabilities to your home or office? No problem.

Want purchase advice or suggestions? I can do that, too.

My goal is to provide for all your computer needs. Most of the time, I'll come to your home or office to address your concerns. But, also feel free to call me and ask questions when you're in a store and ready to buy something. Is it too much? Is it enough? Does it address the need you have?

I speak English, French, German and Russian and I am equally comfortable with Windows or Macintosh computers. I have answers about iPhones.

Basically, I've seen just about everything and can probably help you if you have a question or serious problem.

Computer Problems? Let me help.

If you get around to Basel, I have a WD external hard drive that isn't working anymore, do you think it is fixable? I have all my work past 2 years on that thing

Don't get your hopes up, but as it's an external drive it could be that either the power supply unit, or the PATA/SATA to USB/Firewire bridge that's failed. If this is the case then all of your data should be safe. The the actual hard disk could be transferred to another external case and then you should be back in business again. This should be relatively cheap for somebody to do.

On the other hand if the actual hard disk has physically failed then the drive would have to go to to a specialist data recovery centre - this costs a lot of money and for most people the cost is a no go.

Yeah I think it has something to do with the power supply, because I live in a old building and we have problems with the electricity, it goes off every time I try to clean the floors Few times my computer was on when the electricity went off and I had some issues with the computer for a while but didn't pay attention to my drive until recently...

Re: Computer Problems? I can help.

A few days ago, my laptop crashed and got the new installation of Windows vista after formatting the disk. I had some important data on the disk, and that PC support person did not bother to ask be prior to the fromatting the disk .

I have tried several S/W tools to recover the data from formatted disk, but no success. Can you help me?

Re: Computer Problems? I can help.

Go to the Convar website.

They are data recovery specialists and have some great free software that I've used plenty of times to recover "Lost / deleted / data"

Hope this helps.

Go figure, Zonker originally started this thead then doesn't
bother to answer any of the questions. That tells me
something about the quality of service
The following 3 users would like to thank Scott for this useful post:

Re: Computer Problems? I can help.

jacek, thanks i moved it.....

begga, i can certainly take a look at it. I've got two WD drives myself and am quite happy with them. Worst comes to worst, we should be able to get the data off and onto a different drive, if this one is truly bad or irreparable.

openid, if the disk has been used after re-formatting, then your chances of recovering data are, well, reduced. not to zero, but certainly not as good as you'd've hoped. It'll take time and I have some software that I've used for clients before.

Scott, you are right, I should reply more quickly, but i've been out helping clients and haven't returned to read my emails as often as I'd like.

markalex, thanks for the words of support, but I do also offer lots of free advice and support by email and phone. I only feel right about charging for *actual* tangible work.

Have a great day, all!

I'll be back again.

I have to somewhat agree with your idea on this. I have sold a few and people have been having some issues as well.
personally, mine for backup data (my world book) is slower than an others I tried on a network.

[Geneva] Computer Problems? I can help
