Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Back at the ZH HB market today (but after all the foaling around the last few nights you might find me asleep under the counter).

Clotted cream and clotted cream fudge will be there aplenty and about 20 odd cheeses including 4 cheddars. Last week we tried Partridge's Blue for the first time in Switzerland and it is a star. From the same dairy that makes the Exmoor and Somerset Blue's, also from raw Jersey milk - it is creamy, mature, sharp and spicy all at the same time. I will have 1 Kg with me today, please PM me if you want some saving.

If you haven't been before, there's often quite a few EFer's turn up between 6 and 7 and grab some beers to drink next to my stall (always free cheese nibbles on offer in exchange for a cold one). Maybe we should set up a social event for this one day!

See you later.

Not ash rolled, but the Hereford Hop is coated with, er, hops and is rather tasty with beer.

So... I finally bought a jar of nettle jelly...
A couple of days ago, my Learned Companion found the half-empty jar of nettle jelly which had been sitting at the back of the fridge since I made this post several weeks ago, and emptied the contents onto a plate with a selection of delicious cheeses.

I'm not sure what's happened to the jelly, but it's changed - and is now quite robust, full of flavour, and definitely worth going back for!

Maybe this is something which responds well to a period of maturation? Does jam do that?

Whatever it is, it works.

Nom nom, as I believe people say on the interwebs.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Beenleigh Blue (sheep) is back tomorrow as is it's goats version, Harbourne Blue. Beenleigh Blue was actually the cheese that inspired us to start the business, it's the best cheese in the world according to the other half. Crumbly, but still moist and pretty sweet and refreshing.

An interesting pasta recipe here using BB from Francoise Xavier.

Plenty of Clotted Cream still in stock and the usual 20 odd other cheeses too.

I was in Basel on Friday night and will be back there on May 30th for the Expat-Expo. We may also soon have a retailer there stocking our 10 best sellers.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

It's Cheddar day at our market in Zurichs HB tomorrow from 10 - 8! Come and try Westcombe "Slow Food" cheddar, Isle of Mull raw milk cheddar, Quicke's PDO Devon cheddar, Godminster BIO waxed Somerset cheddar and Lincolnshire Poacher Vintage - OK, not quite pure cheddar, but a modern take on it. 15 other cheeses also on offer including the last few Kg's of Blue Monday and the very special Harbourne and Beenleigh Blues from Devon.

And on Saturday 8th May we'll be at Markthalle Trivisiano in Winterthur from 11 - 5 to launch our cheese and chutney selection in this great Deli.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

I've just been told the shops will be closing early in Zurich today because tomorrows a public holiday. But not at the HB market where we'll be open until 8 as usual.

A bit later I'll be cutting open a new cheddar, Strathdone from north east Scotland, the first time in Switzerland. As usual, more than 20 other cheeses, loads of chutney and jam, clotted cream, fudge and shortbread.

Think i'll pop along in half an hour or so, I really fancy some more of that cheddar in the purple dress that I flirted with last time I was at the Rapperwil event.

Can I use that quote?

Today I'll have 5 very different Scottish cheeses including the new Strathdone cheddar that we opened last week. Although 22 months old it's surprisingly moist and buttery and went down very well last week. I'll have about 15 other British cheese too as well as Clotted Cream (it's "under the counter" - you need to ask for it) and the zero calerie Organic Cornish Clotted Cream fudge

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

I got back late yesterday from a marathon buying trip in the UK and back at the HB market now with a fresh supply of Blue Monday and clotted cream as well as 2 new cheeses: Goldilocks and Black Eyed Susan, both soft organic jersey milk cheeses from Somerset.

For the first time we also have RappiGold beer for sale - I'll be opening a couple of bottles at lunchtime to try too
