Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

It's St George's Day today so I've brought only English cheeses to the Zürich HB market...

Lincolnshire Poacher Vintage, Thomas Hoe Red Leicester, Appleby's Cheshire, Hawes mature Wensleydale, Godminster Bio Cheddar, White Stilton with Blueberries, Cropwell Bishop "Traditional" Blue Stilton, Long Clawson Blue Stilton and Shropshire Blue.

Plenty of Scones and Clotted Cream, jams and chutney's and ale: Spitfire, Bishops Finger and Green King IPA Export.

And Andy from Meat Pie is here with me until 8pm. See you soon!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

If you're in the Geneva area and fancy trying some wine and cheese I'll be at the Mövenpick wine shop in Meyrin today from 11.00 - 16.00. They'll have about 40 bottles of wine open for free tasting and I'll have 6 or 7 cheeses to try and buy. See you there!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Just wanted to say the smoked god minster cheddar that my husband brought home was superb!

Unfortunately, it was so good my 12 year old decided he likes it too....

I think we have a young cheese connoisseur in the making... Do you take apprentices ??

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Something special today at the Zürich HB market, last night we opened a 24Kg Neals Yard Montgomery Cheddar, it's the best we've ever tasted. It's on special offer today only at the HB... 55.00 / Kg down from 62.00 and free to taste as usual!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

There's no market in the Zürich HB today so you'll need to head down the road to the Viadukt for your cheese and scones fix.

A new delivery is due in on Friday and the Godminster smoked cheddar will be back!

Godminster have sent over some freeby mini Organic Bries for me to give away at the HB market today. The first 6 customers who ask about them will get one. I'm here until 8pm!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

I'm at the Zürich HB market today for the last time, I've finally realised that I can't do 15 hour days anymore, so we're going to concentrate more on the Viadukt. We might have some of our best selling cheeses here from now on at another companies stall though and I'll let you know if and when that happens.

So today I guess we'll be having a bit of a celebration goodbye, anyone's welcome to join us for a beer or 2. Todays special offer is Gorwydd Caerphilly, for me one of the greatest cheeses in the world and it's 44.00 / Kg down from 63.00.

Hope to see you later and thanks to everyone on EF who helped establish us in those early days here at the HB!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Sorry I haven't posted about cheese for a while, been too busy getting my beer bar going. So, Monday the Viadukt is closed for the Swiss national day, but it's also Yorkshire day, so today and tomorrow all Yorkshire cheeses are 10% off...

In stock now from Yorkshure we have: Wensleydale, Yorkshire Blue, Harrogate Blue, Mrs Bells Blue (sheep), Bluemin White, Fine Fettle (sheep), Olde York and Katy's White Lavender (sheep).

A special offer for Godminster lovers, 200gr Hearts for just 14.00 each (down from 16.00) or two for 25.00! (especially good for those with 2 sweethearts in your life). Only at the Zürich Viadukt shop until the end of the month (or until stocks last)

Sorry I missed your post! I should be at the Expat Expo in Geneva on the 2nd October, also at the Mövenpick wine shops just outside Geneva and Lausanne at some point before Christmas.

Nearer to home though, there's a special tasting day at the Viadukt Market in Zürich tomorrow, the British Cheese Centre will be holding a Port and Stilton tasting, at least 6 Ports and a couple of Portuguese Moscatels paired with British Blues, including Cropwell Bishop "Traditional" Stilton, Shropshire Blue, Blue Monday, Doreset Blue Vinny, Hebridean Blue and a new one for us, Burts Blue from Cheshire.

We're open from 08.00 - 20.00 and the tatsing will be on from 12.00 - 19.00

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

I'm positively drooling here Grumps with the thought of moscatel and all those delicious cheeses, whilst I'm making do with an Oeil de Perdrix du Valais (though I will progress to a Primitivo di Manduria for supper), and les Flutes du Beure du Migros! Can you send some of the Bishop via the post, though I imagine it might be difficult?

I have noted that you will be in the City of Calvin in October, so hope to meet up with you then.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

For cheese fans in the French part of Switzerland, we'll be at Moevenpick Wine just outside Geneva tonight and at Moevenpick Wine in Crissier, just outside Lausanne tomorrow afternoon. As usual at those events, there'll be cheese and wine to taste and buy.

Then next Sunday I'll be at the Expat Expo in Geneva from 10.00 - 17.00. If you have any special requests for me to bring down (including Bagels!) just send me a PM.

Lot's of new cheeses in this month, including a very gentle Elderflower Cheddar from Quick's in Devon, Smoked Appleby's raw milk Red Cheshire, Cotherstone from County Durham and a really amazing new raw milk cheese from Leicestershire, Bosworth Field.

I think you probably mean Crissier near Lausanne.

There is a Cressier in Fribourg and another in Neuchâtel but sadly neither of those have Movenpick wine shops.
