Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Next Friday (Sept 1st) is the 7th birthday of the Viaukt development in Zürich and as usual there will be a massive party. All the shops take part and there will be live music and loads of good food and drink on offer.

I'm running a Scottish themed bar in and outside the Markthalle on Limmatsttrasse until midnight (possibly later!) with Brewdog beers on tap and whisky. Inside I'll also ber serving Pimms and English cider.

More info on our FB event.
............

My latest Blog post is also up. The moving story of the Swiss lady and the Stilton maker - the friendship in the late 60's that resulted in me being given a gift from him to her to look after.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

It's the first Sunday of Christmas Shopping today so the Viadukt market is open today 11.00 - 18.00.

As usual, as well as selling cheese, scones, and chutney etc I'll also be serving beer, port, English Sparkling Wine, Hot Toddies and cheese boards at my little bar here. Hope to see you later!

We were there 3 weeks ago for the Expat Expo. I now have an "Ambassador" down there and he's been arranging some cheese and wine evenings. Any new public ones I'll be sure to post them here!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Christmas is fast approaching and I have lots of specials in my web shop including packs of "Baby Cheeses" (you might have to think about that little joke) as well as Christmas puddings and cakes and Mince Pies.

Last orders for delivery by post before Christmas is Monday 18th at noon. But our shop (where I have many more cheeses and British food products) will be open every day from now until Saturday 23rd from 09.00 - 20.00 (Sunday 17th from 11.00 - 18.00). We open again Wednesday 27th - Saturday 30th and in the new year from Wednesday 3rd.

We will also be at the Venite Christmas Market in the Kappleplatz in Luzern from tomorrow until Sunday!

Have a great Christmas and New Year and thanks for all your support over the last 10 years!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

To help you celebrate New Year, we have 10% off all English Sparkling wines and Vintage Ports today. I also have a few Christmas Cakes and Mince Pies left, all at half price!

We're open until 8pm at the Viadukt market and a bit later we'll be serving some warm mince pies at the bar for free!

If we don't see you, we wish you all a wonderful and Happy New Year!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

My January Sale of cheese will be extended for another 2 weeks. I have some 100gr, 200gr and 300gr Blue Stilton in Ceramic pots for about 30% off and my New Year Tasting pack of British cheeses is only 35.00 for 1 kg of 6 or 7 different cheeses. Enjoy!

Hi Grumpy,

I saw Aldi selling British cheddar for a reasonable price as a one-off special. Are you supplying them your prised British gem?

Sorry, only just seen this! No, Aldi do their own sourcing Europe wide and wouldn't stock my cheeses (but in the UK they do sometimes have some pretty decent British cheeses).

Anyway, this weekend is the Züri West Kreislauf event (all the galleries and fashion stores do events) and we will be open tomorrow from 11.00 - 18.00. As well as selling cheese (and scones, sausages and bacon etc) our bar will also be serving Scottish beer on tap and cheese boards.

And I'll be in Basel at the Expat Expo from 11.00 - 17.00 with a small selection of cheeses, scones & Clotted Cream as well as jams, chutney's and marmelades. See you there!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

It's the Expat Expo in Geneva this Sunday but unfortunately because of staff commitments we can't make it. But if you're craving your cheese fix I'm offering free delivery on all webshop orders over 45.00 until Nov 15th (normally 95.00 and over is free).

And I have Montgomery's raw milk "Slow Food" cheddar - the absolute best and most original - on sale at 20% off. The one I'm opening today is from Neals Yard in London, they select cheeses when they are young and mature them themselves in their own cellars for an extra level of complexity. Come and try it yourself in Zürich or buy online here.

Finally, I'm taking bookings now for parties and cheese (and beer, wine and whisky) tastings at the Viadukt market. If you fancy a friends or staff apero in an unusual location with some very different cheeses at a great price, get in touch!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

For those of you in the Zürich area, I now have an arrangement with Jims British Supermarket in Gland where we stock some of their products at our shop in Zürich and they stock some of our cheeses.

The products we have from them are those that I don't normally stock (Malt Vinegar, HP Sauce, Suet, Treacle, Golden Syrup etc). We also have a big range of Christmas Crackers, Puddings and Mince Pies. And Crumpets will be available (frozen) very soon!

You can also order from the full range at Jims and benefit from free delivery if you collect your order from us at the Viadukt Market.

Crumpets. Really!

After two years of moaning, hinting, teasing he actually does it! WOW! I like the way you do business, trying to make customer's wishes come true - okay, lot's of people may do that BUT- actually succeeding! Guess they will be Warburton's. Perfect solution.

Do let me know when the "very soon" has become the present.

I didn't leave the time unused and learnt how to make them but it's still a hassle and a mess.

I'll go for the malt vinegar too. Very difficult to find here.

Well, this already has been a good day, I could actually go back to bed now.

PS: You're not yet mentioned as collection point on Jim's website.

Actually, some big Coops have it in their international section. I've seen it in Coop Sihl City and also in Dübendorf. May also be in St Annahof, but I've not checked.
