Re: Britshop.ch - British/English food online!

You can also pay by e-banking or invoice, no need to have a credit card

For me the issue isn't so much unwillingness to order online, it's the hassle of moving money to a UK account so that I can pay over the internet - so a pickup point idea where I could pay cash would be perfect for me too

Hey. I ordered some stuff from the shop a few weeks ago and was amazed at how quickly it arrived.

Any chance of getting some Lyons tea in?

Re: Britshop.ch - British/English food online!

If I'm not mistaken, there used to be a stand with British and American goods at the Hauptbahnhof market Wednesdays, but this was a few years ago. Might be an idea in terms of a pick-up point?

Thanks for the input guys...

As some of you may know we only just started the business one year ago.
We live near Lucerne, so that is already a reason not to open up a physical shop as most customers come from Zürich, Basel or Geneva.
Also renting a little shop for 2000+ a month vs. renting a storage room for 500 a month makes a big difference. We would have to be a lot more expensive if we would do that...

@BrianB ... A pickup point would be a different story and worth considering. We could deliver to that pickup point once a week based on the orders.
I will announce here in case we start taking applications for people who want to run a pickup point :-D

Who knows...maybe we'll consider moving to ZH in a couple of years

Me too. In fact I had it delivered to my workplace and since I wasn't expecting it for another week or so didn't even look for it. Luckily chocolate bars don't go off very quickly Excellent service.

Thank you Britshop

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to Britshop.
Today I got my first parcel from them, with a pack of Mincepies and a box of Assam tea bags(among other goodies). Oh bliss. My first mince pie in - ahh, I think about 8 years!!!! Delivered with perfect timing while my boy was at playgroup so I could sit down in peace and quiet and enjoy a lovely cuppa and a MINCE PIE Can you tell I enjoyed the expereince.
Oh, and they also bought some Terry's chocolate oranges on my request - this is going to be a good Christmas

I was just wondering if anyone else has bought/baked something recently that they haven't had for a long time that is helping them get into the christmas mood.

(if there's anyone out there that doesn't know the site yet - http://www.britshop.ch/index.php is worth checking out...)

Re: Thank you Britshop

Well, it seems like other people have had more luck than me with the Britshop.

I placed an order three weeks ago and have not heard a peep from them, and they have also not responded to my three emails. I actually thought they had gone out of business ... I guess not?

That`s weird because they always respond to my emails. Why not try sending Evolver a pm.

Thanks Britshop the Cadburys calendars are fantastic all the different little tasty chocolates inside, not that i get to eat them only smell them before the kids eat them, but the kids love them that is all that matters. I had to tell my husband to hide the selection boxes, not from the kids, but from me, or i would of eaten them all by now.

Re: Britshop.ch - British/English food online!

I've used Britshop quite a few times and have always had a good experience. I order and pay by credit card over their website, the stuff arrives in the post within a few days and without breakages. Each item is individually wrapped in bubble wrap packed up tight in a carton stuffed full of polystyrene chips. 10 out of 10 as far as my experiences go.

Still waiting to hear from you. We checked all our e-mails yesterday evening, also our spam-folders. There is also no order in our system in the past 3 weeks that hasn't been dispatched.

It would not be the first time that we get mixed up with another shop.

Yes, it is definitely the Britshop. Will send you another email.

Probably not the best place to follow up orders here, but I am nonetheless pleased to hear that the Britshop is still operating!

For purposes of clarification, and to be fair on the Britshop, I should admit to some slight exaggeration (though it was not intentional at the time). My Britshop order was placed only 1 week ago, but I did send three emails which were not responded to. I did place and pay for an order with another expat online store (also promoted through the EF) 3 weeks ago, and they have also not responded at all. So I sort of confused both orders ... hope I haven't upset anyone, but I will be sure to post a positive comment on Britshop once I receive my package. I am usually a big fan of online shopping, but I panic when my orders and money go missing, and especially since my Christmas baking will now be delayed somewhat (or not happening at all).

Still didn't get an email from you...Let's take this offline...I've sent you a PM cause I really need to know your name before I can do anything for you.
The fact that they also didn't answer makes me wonder if your e-mail program is working correctly ;-)

For what it's worth we actually did have a packing backlog of a few days since the Christmas stuff went online last week. We got pretty snowed under and only just caught up thanks to the help of my in-laws who helped us pack during their visit. :-D

Mate, can we take this offline? Unless, of course, you wish to deal with this publicly.

Have not responded to your PM yet as I have a few fires to put out at work.

Re: Britshop.ch - British/English food online!

Aw c'mon guys. Take this offline if you must but don't leave us hanging in suspense. Will Cremebrulee's order finally get through? Will Evolver come up with the goods? What is it that cremebrulee's so keen to get hold of? I know...sad or what? But it's been a slow day!

On another matter. The coop near me has run out of Bagels again. I now have six left that are good till 04.01.09. It's nowhere near enough! Some days the coop has them, then you can go for weeks before they reappear. That's not helped by me raiding the entire stock when I see them on the shelves but there are never more than a few packs on display. You would think the coop would get the message that there is demand for these things but apparently not. Evolver, I know these are perishable items but they have a shelf life of two or three months and going on the other posts there seems to be demand for a more consistent supply of Bagels. Can you fill the niche? Speaking for myself I'd be happy to give you an advance order.

Sorry that everyone had to watch the drama unfold

Hopefully the situation has been sorted out. Evolver has been very helpful in tracking down my order and ensuring that my goods have been reserved.

Unfortunately, I can't claim to have ordered anything exotic. Just a small stock of treacle (essential for gingerbread at this time of year), ginger cake (to stuff the turkey), and other bits and bobs (like proper chocolate chips). Am pleased the EF was able to help me out on this one

Re: Britshop.ch - British/English food online!

The Cheese has arrived!

We are happy to announce Cheddar is now available for sale from our website thanks to Mike Jones from the Cheeseclub! The Cheese will be supplied from his store, which means while you are doing your normal grocery shopping you will now be able to add cheese to that list.

For the beginning we will be offering Godminster Organic Cheddar, a creamy mature cheddar from Somerset. It is finished in burgundy wax, retaining its moisture and keeping it soft. If you order Cheddar it will be sent priority post either on Monday or Wednesday to ensure delivery the next day.

We are giving this a trial run and if all goes well we will be introducing some more cheeses from Mike.

Our next delivery for the shop will be 4th March where we will have a range of Easter Eggs and a new product line Greeting cards to cover all occasions. Something that we feel is needed here! More details will be sent when delivery arrives.

All the best!

Joanne and Carlo
