Does that mean that if everyone here follows that link and orders stuff that I'll end up with 50 bottles of HP sauce or something? Don't worry, I don't really have a hankering for UK foodstuffs

So could I ... haven't cut the grass in 2 Months...too busy programming the shop
Anyway, my parents in law are on visit at the moment and he took care of the matter,
so I ended up with a golfrange-millimeter-cut on our lawn after all.

Re: Britshop.ch - British/English food online!

Anything healthy???

Congratulations on your new site! I'm sure there's a good market for you in this forum.

How about some food we could convince the locals to try, such as decent cheese (none of this Swiss rubber)?

I assume you can only trade in products with a long shelf-life, but it would be fab to get some fresh produce from the UK without paying Globus prices. Any plans to source fresh food?

Good luck!

...I beg your pardon! Don't insult our cheese

The problem with fresh products, as you already mentioned, is the
short shelf-life. Also we do not have a big enough freezer (yet) and
the products would have to remain chilled while being transported by
the postman. However...maybe there will be a solution for that in the future.

If you crave for english bacon and sausages, why not check out our link partner over the rainbow?

Re: Britshop.ch - British/English food online!

I know you are called "Britshop" and you generally stock products which many non-brits aren't interested in - but have you considered also offerring those "essentials" from other countries where expats come from (SA, Oz, US, Canada etc). Obviously sourcing them may be a pain - but if you teamed up with an interested party who wanted to handle the sourcing of the products it might work out?

Fantastic shop. So glad I opened this thread! We've been lugging food stuff over from the UK for the last year (not much officer, just some Marmite and sauces etc ).

Well done, we'll be ordering from you in the near future....

Gruyere, Emmental and Appenzeller are the stuff of dreams. I unbeknowingly had some fresh goats cheese the other day and nearly vomited.

Thanks!
We are overwhelmed by the feedback and orders we get from the community. We knew it could work out but we never imagined it to kick in like this. We are already putting together our next shippment from the UK, because we're already starting to run out of things we didn't expect (mushy peas and heinz baked beans for example)

Yes, it seems that most of these expats shop tend to supply to just the one nationality of expats (take: www.aussieshop.ch - they appear to be on holiday, the website usually looks a lot better than this; www.tasteofamerica.ch). It would be good to just go to one place. BTW - I got to try great fresh scottish made sausages from: http://www.over-the-rainbow.ch bought from the expats expo on saturday. Though I'd share this too, and while I'm at it - you can't beat a good cake from: http://www.sugars-online.net The above two have been tried and tested by me. ~ Nanda

A lot of people underestimate the efforts it takes to import food, especially into a restrictive country like Switzerland.

If we'd try to offer food from various countries it would mean that we would have to be in contact with wholesalers for each country. Also the shipping costs would be sky-high if you ship food over from the US or Australia. It's almost impossible to handle more than one source country, unless you are a big company.

Of course! Yummy! There you go!

We usually also have Heinz Baked Beans but this time our wholesaler couldn't deliver them.
So it's Coop beans for at least another month :-(
