Offering: Dog grooming at your house (Zürich area)

Dog and cat grooming at your home

I am a certified dog and cat groomer offering to groom your pet at your house.

My experience has mostly been in Toronto, Canada where I worked at an upper class dog-grooming salon. During my training I also learned how to groom cats next to dogs. With dogs I have groomed almost any breed you can think of in any style you can think of. From convenient short to the fancy look with nail polish on.

In Zürich there are several salons where you can bring your dog and they will brush, bath and shave / cut them. I am offering to do this at your house, bathing will be a little bit difficult in your house but if we can think of something I am willing to give it a go of course.

My price for now will be 60 franks per hour plus travel costs and I live in Zürich. Since you, the owner, will be there you can see for yourself how long I am taking to groom your pet.

Prices for little things, like nail clipping won't be based on the hour if that's the only thing you request. Those prices are available on request.

The summarize what I can offer:
- Brush / Comb dogs with matted and tangled hair. Depending on the coat there are different techniques.
- Prepare your dogs paws for winter, so they won’t be pulling nasty little snow and ice balls between their pads
- Nail clipping
- Ear cleaning
- Full fancy groom
- Full convenient groom
- Plucking

If you’re interested or want some more information feel free to e-mail me on kerstin.dog@gmail.com or PM me. If you’re curious to my work I can also sent some pictures of the breeds I have groomed in the past 2.5 years.

Cheers,
Kerstin

Hi Kerstin,

I am very interested. I've done the basic trimming myself but I think its best to get my dog to a professional. Can you please explain what the difference between a full convenience and and full fancy groom?

Cheers.

Hey there, I am sorry if I sound a bit vague :-) It usually makes sense in my head. A fancy groom is when you go for the more polished look like a poodle or American Cocker Spaniel in their breed cuts. If you just like your dog short, one length without any fuss, that's what I mean with a convenience cut.

The price for those smaller things is on request, I am not daring to ask 60 franks for just clipping nails (I wish). Those smaller things I will do for way less of course, but I will let it depend on what else people would like me to do and where I have to travel.

I hope that I answered the questions to your satisfaction.

Cheers,
Kerstin

I am interested too

I have a Cavalier King Charles and I recently gave in and had her groomed and clipped quite short over the summer as she was suffering with the heat and she was shedding terribly, she seemed a lot more comfortable for it so I am not so bothered about her looking perfect for her breed anymore

Thanks Kerstin. I think I understand where you're coming from. If you are comfortable, please post the prices on this thread, if not - please PM me together with your travel costs.

I usually do the usual ear cleaning and bath myself, and as for toenails, they dont need cutting as the pavement usually files them for me on our walks. But I wouldnt mind if you came over and give him a nice trimming and a pampering bath. I have a bath tub which you can use and he is very good staying in there. None of the struggling/escape artist drama.

I tried trimming him last week and he wasnt very impressed with my handiwork. So your thread came just in time. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Kerstin,
Can you also groom a cowardly cat who won't stand still? My cat was once shorn by a vet under anaesthesia (he was anaesthetized for a blood sample anyway) but never groomed while awake.

Re: Offering: Dog grooming at your house (Zürich area)

Basically I have no problem with folk 'bumping' a Commercial Thread by praising the work of the firm. This helps the firm make itself known on here and reminds us from time to time that they exist. However, when Newbies, or folk without at least a few other posts do this, it just doesn't carry the same weight.

Re: Offering: Dog grooming at your house (Zürich area)

I would like to say thank you to all the people that have approached me in the past year through the English forum. I had the chance to groom many different kind of dogs and cats and meet a lot of different people.

For now I am going to put my grooming activities on a hold due to other time consuming things happening.

Thanks,
Kerstin

From experience I know that folk tend to go on answering Threads for ever if it isn't closed, so I'm closing this now. If, Kerstin, you start taking on jobs again in the future, either repost, or request that this Thread be re-opened.

Good luck with whatever new venture is 'consuming your time'.
