It's called giving the passenger choice.
Ahem.
Correction: it's called sophisticated state-of-the-art Yield Control Management Journey Control and it employs people like me.

Hey, it's got a wiki

Je detest Marketing people. Why y'all gotta manipulate consumers to maximize profits? Why do you gotta detour folks just to fill a seat rather than honor their wishes for convenience? I would think that, It's really very short sighted, because while it makes a $ today, it doesn't get repeat $$$ tomorrow.

They just lost my business. Why would I want to extend my journey for hours just to fill Swiss's seats?

Re: Swiss - the airline

Ugh, that annoys me so much now...

I honestly wouldn't mind flying back to Geneva, flights all booked to Zurich? fine, Geneva it is, I undestand. By why the **** do you have to force me to take another stupid plane when the train is obviously quicker and more convenient?? I'd take the ticket and just get off at Geneva, but I suspect that'll be a massive pain in the ass.

When I book ticket outward, they're happy to give me the choice of airports for landing and departure, they obviously recognise I'm perfectly capable of getting to the correct airport without being forced to take a transfer flight from bloody london heathrow to gatwick.

****s

Arrange a sh!t hotel with sh!t food and service and expect them to be happy.
I'm sorry to hear of the experience - very frustrating I would imagine. But honestly, is the food at the hotel going to be any worse than the plane food they would have received?

(So, 2 continuously controlled massive fuel explosions known as turbofan Engines are OK then are they) Here's a cold croissant and a tiny serviette, sorry your knees are wedged in that position for the next 10 hours. Let me scan your passport 3 times and stare at you severely. I'm not sure I should let you in to Heathrow even if you are British "
Its a continuous burn which are apparantly ok other wise it might be hard to flap your arms quick enough.. and should fly business to avoid the knee cramp

Re: Swiss - the airline

FFS, I tried changing the departure point to Basel, for a flight to Paris. Now they're happy to put me on a train from Basel to Zurich, no flight transfer need there.

But absolutely the most annying thing, the fully booked plane to Zurich that I couldn't get earlier? Turns out it's for people to fly to Zurich and get the ****ing train to Basel!!!

Moronic

EDIT: I don't know what's going on, I can book the direct flight now.

Thanks for the link, I have always just stared at my screen in intense anger when I have to make my pilgrimage to LOndon and the only flight options left are indirect flights going to london or returning from London. ...

In terms of annoying airport rules of searching, I used to whinge about this till I went to Israel on holiday. Now I do not whinge about it anymore. I was basiclly violated at Ben Gurion Airport all in the name of flight safety. ...snipped
Thread-drift, but I'll tell you something:

Tel Aviv have plain-clothes security operating everywhere.
If you so much as left your bags unattended for a few seconds at Tel Aviv *before* the security check, you may have been "tagged" to be pulled at Security. Or if your behaviour on arrival at the airport could in way have appeared suspicious, then they'd mark you.

I'm not saying it was, but that's one of the criteria they use.
