I have a friend who has a mullet. He is really into heavy metal music etc. His hair is short on top and then sort of frizzes out at the back. It is awful, I have been quite honest and informed him that it is so horrible etc. He refuses to cut it.

Pity, because he is a good looking guy and would be even better looking with a good haircut. But I guess it is his hair and he can have it as he likes!! Sometimes he wears it in a ponytail which is ok.
Render him unconscious and cut his hair for him. It may not be technically legal, and may end your friendship, but just think of the greater good.

Is that a photo of you? You have really beautiful hair!
Thanks, Meisie, nope but pretty much identical. I wish the hairdresser cut more, since it gets heavy, but she only straight trimmed it. So it is flat on the bottom. What does one do with long hair while skiing? Even braids get so messy (sorry, rich).

So, nobody liked this? Is this a mullet?

I have seen some Geneva corporates with long hair and mullets, believe it or not. ( I guess they weren't from UBS).

Tom, having a daughter as an apprentie for hairdressing, that's too cool. Ask her what she thinks of mullets..? Is it in style? Or emo? Emo mullets are rather...strange. I like buzz. Crew cut.
She said that, while the cutting guide in the previous post is correct, no one here does that. Also, it's anti-EMO, EMO being long in the front.

Must be a 'Svizzera Interna' thing.

Tom

N.B. 'Svizzera Interna' means 'Germans Speaking Switzerland', not 'InnerSchweiz' as one would think!

P.S. May include French-=speaking parts as well, I need to ask.

I have kids here with emo on the front part, short sides and mullet at the back, I don't get this fusion fashion anymore. It may be the Romandie thing, or some kind of rebellion..

the last gent somehow exploded. The maximum-size pic was removed by a moderator. Here Mr Breitinger again

in a more normal way

btw. this is the man who in Zurich stopped the prosecution and discrimination against Jews, Catholics, Baptists, and other "dissidents" and started to make Zurich a liberal and open-minded place. He was not city-president but Chief Reverend at the Grossmünster (more powerful in those times ! ) and journalist, writer, poet, professor, etc, as you can see

Awww....thanks for le pere Pestalozzi, Wolli. I'm sure it was not his mullet that was peeving people off those days.

Breitinger, he was Pestalozzi's prof at Collegium Carolinum, with Bodmer. Ones of the most influential people in those times. Everyone should know what was going on in Switzerland in that era, it is so fascinating. Mullet or no mullet

Pest. was German part born and brought up. I am having some work on him published back home, wish he was given more credit here, he was a great thinker and teacher. EF actually pointed me his direction, I forgot who it was but thank you!

Re: Why does everyone have mullets on Swiss TV?

The mullet seems to act like a natural barrier against the cold.

Then again the scarves are around for some time..is that not a better option then the ever surviving mullet? someone should tell the Swiss..

Everytime i see a guy with a mullet , i want to go jackass on them..

And for the ladies, there is the "Poodle".
Pretty similar to the guys' Mullet, but permed and fluffy on top, long and wavy at the back.
Mostly dyed red or black.
Lovely.
Something like this?

It really suits her, doesn't it, it does generally suit chicks here, the bird's nest..I think it is French, longish neck, whispy ends sticking out.

However, on the long note, I went to have my hair cut at home 2 days ago, I was afraid a bit in CH, it costs a lot plus I am not a big 80's fan, but the hairdresser refused to chop my hair, darnit. Now I am again stuck with this

It is nice, I agree, most women with long hair enjoy it, but after while, it gets boring, you sit on it constantly, on the toilet, it gets caught everywhere, shopping carts, slammed in the car door, kid pulls it, all the brushing work out.. It's work having it on your head, honest. Works ok during gigs, hahah, true true.

Some mullets are manly, there, I said it. 1 outa 100 looks alrite.

It's very rare I advocate any woman cutting their hair short (I love long shiny hair, very sexy and feminine), but she looks great. Helps that she has a very pretty face though I guess.
Some advice for you Monsieur Riche Chien: please open your eyes and look at the age of the women with long hair. If she appears to be over 40 Swiss, or 50 British, her hair will be thinner and will be unable to support the weight of the longer hair. She will often have the appearance of a witch. Similarly for the men, any long hair looks terrible! Older people must have shorter hair!

When I go on holiday I make a point of getting my hair cut. It can be quite an adventure! But here in Switzerland I would always walk out wiith a mullet if I didn't give explicit instructions!

.
