Re: Damn you, IKEA

I'm not the only one generalising here, it's just the only generalisation you don't care for. Anyway, as LordMonkey tried to do... let's move on. That particular issue on the thread had finished, no need to start it up again. I would be happy to answer any queries you have via PM, but it really isn't what the thread is about now.

Re: Damn you, IKEA

And thats how another thread started with the "probable" intention to make "most2 of us smile or chuckle ends up as a train wreck.

If you understood the humour
If you dint

If you want to discuss the effects of culture on sense of humour may I request you to dedicate a seperate thread on that?

Let us atleast have our smilies from this topic

agreed... I haven't... I do have a sense of humour too, and it does involve laughing at stereotypes of people based on region/religion... even if they are my own... I got my kicks as much as you did out of that Spiderman vid you posted... but people really need to get "only we have a sense of humour and the rest are just Grinchs" out of their heads...

speaking about generalizations, you sound wise, and old, and preachy... I guess you are an owl, and it is way past your bedtime

You are right: I am terribly tired and would definitely prefer to sleep now than to sit in an office...

You can find an endless source of entertainment if you pretend to discuss semi-serious matters of religious nature with some of our users. From all religions are two the most entertaining here:

- Muslims. Especially look out for converts as they take everything extra-seriously. Don't stop to tease them till you get an own fatwa. The real pros are said to have started entire intifadas.

- Evangelical Christians, especially the North American flavour. They typically do not know too much about the own history of Christianity, but therefore have a lot of hardcore positions. Same as with the fatwa - don't stop till they threaten you with a crusade.

We did. Twice actually:

I still think we should just give the entire region to China. Communism has hardly ever harmed someone...

Oh deah gawd no-o-o-o-o, not Wolli on an interminable tirade against cream-and-turmeric in Swiss restaurants again

All right then, I'll get the first bit of nonsense out the way to expedite things...

Mmm, generalizations huh? A few tens of millions gone in the Soviet Union, a few million in Cambodia. Communism is to harm what poop is to smell, synonymous. Ask the Tibetans if they'd fancy another 1949?

It'd have to be a big one, hence the strong cup.

(I'm having mine now... )

I disagree - it wasn't "communism" but Stalin and Pol Pot. Similar right winged dictators have a pretty similar track record. So the cause of the smell is not the ideology, but the shitty dictator.

Well, Israel did not need any communism to invade and illegally settle in Palestine, did they?
And by now are 90% of the Tibetan population actually pro-China. Facts established two generations ago and the hippy "free tibet" guys cannot actually explain me what they want to do: Make a vote in Tibet? It would stay a part of China. Throw all people out that are not ethnic Tibetan? That can hardly be more just than the current situation...
