Scumbags in pubs

Well, it had been a pleasant evening at the local Paddy Reilly's on Friday night, was smoking a rare fag and chatting to a couple of peeps in the smoking room. Next to us was a bunch of guys/girls, late teens, 20s, about 8 to 10 of them I would say. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw one of the girls lean across the table and slap one of the guys in the face. Pleasant girl, I thought. A few moment later, the slapped guy stood up and and started exchanging words with another guy in the entourage, who HE proceeded to slap (big girl, use a fist next time). Seemed like it was about to kick off, so myself and the chaps (one of whom is the owner of Paddy Reilly's) stepped into to try and diffuse it, when I caught a glimpse of something shiny, coming from the direction of the girl who slapped, followed by catching a glass just above my right eye . Was just about to demonstrate my annoyance, when my mate pointed out I as bleeding. Quite a lot. Was summarily ushered to the kitchen where the girls gave me some towels to stem the bleeding and one of the staff drove me to the hospital. Couple of stitches later I was right as rain, just missed 2 hours beerage time though .
What is it makes people want to throw a glass in a crowded bar, especially if that person is a girl, can't throw properly and missed her intended target?
Apparently the police were called and came, but the group had already been chucked out. F'kin bitches.
Anyway, rant over.

The group were speaking French mostly, but the bar manager says he thinks a lot are Albanian.

It's not an authentic Irish pub when there isn't a brawl Ah how i miss those days..

Thanks to people like those kids, we are going to have security at every pub, like in Ireland, refusing you by the looks or in order of how he or she at the door feels..

well done scumbags .. muppets

How's the (above) the eye Paddy?

They do have surveillance cameras, but not in the smoking room unfortunately. Manager says he's going to push for it now.

It's actually just above the eyebrow, but there is also a small nick on the eyelid itself, from the which the doc removed a couple of tiny shards of glass

Re: Scumbags in pubs

Toad of Toad Hall Justice:

The report has been submitted and said perps have been handed down the following sentence:

Bloke slapping another bloke: 2 beers to be paid in compensation to Mr Paddy G due to psychiatric trauma of seeing "girly behaviour" in a pub, by a bloke

Throwing glasses in pub: 5 beers - just not on, and probably why wimmin' aren't allowed entry into working men's bars. You'd never catch a bloke doing that. Wimmin', know your place <ducks for cover, missing said glass>

Missing 2 hours beerage time: the most heinous of crimes, 20 beers - calculated at the average "bloke" rate of 10 an hour - + another 50 in compensation.

Total: 77 beers

Honestly Paddy, try to catch the glass with your hands next time, not your face.

More seriously, at least you've still got your sight. Lucky escape there.

Glass or any weapon has no place in a pub brawl.

Bitch slapping also has no place....... the shame of it.

Firstly, glad there was no serious damage.... lucky escape (intended glassing or not).

At least you have a great story to tell, and it's not likely we will see the before mentioned scum bags back in that pub any time soon.

That last bit being said.... perhaps I should drink there more often now. Those scum bags will only have to go and drink somewhere else anyway.

Paddy O'Reilys must be the safest bar around now.

Yes, a lot of French are trying to pass themselves off as Albanians these days as that makes them more popular in Zürich

In this case then maybe yes. A few people would jump to the conclusion that trouble in an Irish pub would be caused by Irish or Brits. We've enough of a reputation as it is.

There are a fair few albanians who go there alright. Know one of them myself though he's a level headed bloke (not that means much after a few beers with some people).

Been in switzerland 18months now and still haven't seen a bar fight and I even work in a bar (XXe for those in Fribourg). Most i've seen is a few minor girly scuffles.

Sorry to hear you lost out on 2 hours of beering though

Re: Scumbags in pubs

Sorry to hear about the incident. One of the reasons I avoid the pubs like fire. Only will show up there if the right company and civilized people are around i.e. skisocial, rugby, cricket and most importantly when the people take it easy!

Re: Scumbags in pubs

I'm quite glad I went to Hooters that night! I tend to treat bar fights with the same code of conduct that an Ice hockey referee uses, i.e. leave them to it unless one starts to get the upper hand.

On a serious note slashes and ‘chibs’ (slang for face slash) can ruin lives.

Re: Scumbags in pubs

having been glassed by a woman many years ago, I can tell you those witches are nasty. And I was the intended target.....my "girlfriend" at the time decided she wanted to meet a new guy whom I knew and, frankly, I did not mind as it was time to move on.

I bled like a mo-fo until they got a shard of glass out of the back of my head. Lodged in an vein so there was claret everywhere.

After 20 minutes of them trying to find this, I was face down on the gurney and thus, when I sat up, I looked like something from a horror movie and could not change expression as the blood caking my face had, erm, been outside the body too long to remain liquid.

Under advice, I was told to take a taxi home when they let me out. We rounded the corner outside the hospital and ran away to the kebab place (yes, teenagers).

Only the next day, I found an additional hole in my back that had been missed due to lack of pain (wonder why) and the amount of blood.

I can't remember seeing the woman again but should've called the rozzers. My neighbour, the bouncer at the place we were at, had hold of her and I told him to not give her a smacking as it was not worth his time.....this was before my mate cupped his hands and collected my blood rather rapidly.....and we jogged to the local hospital.

You all should be pleased I'm still here!!!

Well, that was nasty!

Thank goodness your eyesight is okay!

Violence in a social scene must NOT be tolerated. A pity they were allowed to leave before the Police got there!
