Can U believe this guy, jeeeeez.

So.

I live in Neuchatel. And I got a new job in Bern a couple of months back. So i decided I want to leave the place, sell all the furniture and get everything new. As I had like 6 months of gap between the day I got hired and the day when my job starts.

So I decided to sell everything, thats when I got introduced to EF. I advertised like every other person here who wants to sell stuff. And I started getting calls for one or 2 items.

Then comes this call from a student in Zurich. And he tells me how he wants to get all the furniture I have left but cannot afford to buy it all at 1200 CHF, which was the total cost of a lot of furniture I had with me still unsold. I said, Fine !!! I remember me being a student and it being not so easy and I can do it for watever u r cool with. YEAH !!! i actually said that coz I wanted to help him. He said fine, he will take it for 600 CHf. I was cool.

Then he comes to my place, and I didnt live there anymore and had moved to my friends place, since the lease was gonna get over soon. So i went to the apartment, where my stuff to be sold was, when he was about to come.

Not only did i help him dismantle everything, but i busted my a** to move all of that down, and in the meanwhile, this guy, STOLE my iphone. He actually went in my backpack and stole it. We were in the apartment for like an hour when i helped him and I didnt noticed that he took the phone. Since I wanted to get back to work asap, I was helping him as fast as I could. And he was ranting all the time that he has to get back as he has car only for half a day. Then when we were about to leave i realised the phone is misplaced, I asked him to call. And he said its going to voice mail. So he switched it off, after stealing it, a classic post theft act. I was in shock for the next 20 seconds. Then he said, he gotta rush and he said here is the 600 CHF. I opened my wallet to keep it in. AND DAMM !!! he had totally taken off the 800 CHF which were in there.

And I had no clues how to confront him. I guess I was shocked coz he looked such a nice decent fellow. And by the time I thought I should be confronting him or do somthing about it. He might be laughing his guts out, driving at 80 KMPH back to Zurich.

I still cant believe this happened. Neither can my friends, they said I should have man-ed up and confronted him. But I had literally like 90 seconds before everything hit me. And the moment he saw me trying to find my phone, he paid me and he just ran away.

There is not much I can do, coz i got no details of his, coz his number was in my phone. He is inactive on EF. And I cant do anything coz I cant prove that he took it, U know the in lawyers language. Plus, it is better i move on and learn from this.

DAMM this was a bad experience. My reaction towards EF got sour for like a week, a bit extreme though, couldnt help it, this was the 1st time I used EF and this is what I had to face, I know, EF had nothing to do with it, but i guess i was pushed to far that I just didnt feel like coming to EF and mentioning this in the complaints corner, but as time went by, I realised not every1 is inhuman and EF is definitely a place where I can relate too. I wanted to mention this here and not let it just slip by, coz it is better that others again have a friendly reminders of never letting their guard down, even if everything looks just fine.

I met many others here and they are really helpful and kind. Open to new people and helping when they can. Moving to Bern now and hoping to meet some nice EF members and have some nice new memories.

Erm, you know his name and contact details. Call the frigging police.

Edit: You can get his number from your phone bill, normally

Re: Can U believe this guy, jeeeeez.

So he took your iPhone, 800 CHF in your wallet and paid you 600 CHF and got some furniture on top of that? Wow.

I hope you've called the police. You cant prove that a pickpocket took your wallet but you still make a report anyway. His details may have been gone with the iPhone but I am sure you have copies of the messages you've exchanged.

Yeah I know his name, and I can get his number.

But then again, there is nothing i can prove. The door was open when we were working, he might say any1 could have come n taken it. I didnt see him take the cash nor the phone.

I have a friend who works in Police in Zurich and I called him and he said I have a weak case coz I should have not let him go and called the police at that every instant. But u know it would be such a ruckus to create a scene right there. And on the top of it, I had like 90 seconds to just realise what happened, coz he seemed so friendly, trying to crack jokes and ask me wats my new job about and explainning me how his PHD is going n stuff. It never ever hit me that he can do soemthing like that. Or may be I was really slow that day

Plus its been like 6 months now. I still think I should have acted then n there, but its long gone and I have moved on.

Wait, this was 6 months ago, you did nothing then and you're telling us now? I hate to say this, but are you a complete moron? Someone steals 1500.- or so and you do NOTHING?

LOL. I agree, I have had my days of being a moron.

The point is that, I spoke to my friends about this. Same reactions how I am getting now.

The reason y i said this now over here is that I am not looking for a solution here. As told to me, the solution would had lied if I acted in those 90 seconds.
I wrote this experience so just share and remind others, if there are any like me, which i doubt, to never let their guards down, even if the person is jolly, friendly and even if we r in the safest country in the world and even the safest canton in the safest country.

the fast train to Zurich from Bern would allow you to get to Zurich and back before his hospital treatment has started

Wow, you're very slow, indeed.

You could contact the admin of EF, maybe his IP address could help to track him down if he wasn't using some public internet spot. Oh my oh my, how I'd be punching around today...
