Sure, but is to be interested in the other point of view required ? in order to stay in discussion.

So i read this as, Tom is not interested in Pussycat's view and he is not intersted in it either, meaning Tom himself is not interested in it.

So who is interested, the guy guy on the platform smoking ?

YOU have been smoking, albeit NOT cigarettes! :D

I am interested in your point of view, i have looked at the subject with open eyes on all sides.

It is you that has a blinkered view of it.

I am not being rude and telling everyone that you are a nasty person because you don't smoke.

But you seem to put all smokers in the same basket - as people who do not respect others health.

Do you own a car? I think that your car is probably harming more lungs a day than my one or two cigarettes on a sunny terrace do.

And i do keep coming back to this thread, because it interests me. It is an open forum, i can say what i want - even if it is not what you Tom1234 wants to read. As it is not to your liking. You seem to rile people up. Do you get pleasure out of that?

And, by Swiss laws, i am allowed to smoke outside. On a terrace etc. and i and thousands of others shall continue to do so until the law tells me i can't.

What you can do is keep telling your kids that smoking is bad for them, so they won't start. Unlike me, that grew up in a smoking environment.

It was my birthday yesterday, i am 52. Last week i went for a general check up. Clean bill of health.

As ever, totally irrelevant.

As a smoker you have (very very roughly) a 1/3 chance of a significantly early death (heart attack if you're lucky, lung cancer if not), a 1/3 chance of suffering prolonged ill health (lung and circulatory problems) and a 1/3 chance of more-or-less nothing much as a result of your smoking.

You have no idea which group you will belong to in 10 or 20 years.

Well with the new grass cigarettes from COOP one might be able to get back at the tobacco smokers. In the train stations etc. And they have no ground for a complaint!

There are a few pet peeves EFers never get bored to bring on so you should not get worried. You can count on their consistency.

It's an incredibly filthy addiction, repulsive on so many levels. At least with the advent of e-cigs and newer generation of noncombustible cigs (iQOS), people can indulge in their habit with far less aggression towards nonsmokers

Plus, best of all, train platforms will be much more tolerable

e cigs-just a money making thing. And how stupid do these e cig smokers look? Cigarette smokers have no respect for the environment. Just throw the butts on the ground. Some badly paid foreigner will clean it up. Yes cigarette smokers think that somehow they have a right to just throw their butts on the ground.Egotists

Smoking...I try to refrain from commenting or casting opinion on the subject as I feel people are free to do as they choose. But, when it's raining and everyone is crammed under the shelter, why is there always an idiot or two smoking. I just don't get it.

My other half works with end-of-life lung cancer patients in her research into new treatments and ways to manage the disease. Not everyone she works with is a smoker, other things cause lung cancer as well.

However, if I were a smoker I'd consider routine lung cancer screening - the key is to catch it early. The disease can start years before any symptoms appear. Both my parents died in their early 60's of smoking related lung cancer. They were the type of people who just didn't go to the doctor unless it was an emergency. By the time they sought medical attention for their lung problems their bodies were so riddled with tumors very little could be done. Early detection may have made for a happier outcome.

You can also count on omtatsat to resurrect necro threads, so there will always be something to argue about. ;)

Are you feeling low on groans and blobs to post such a thing? Smoking is a touchy EF subject. ;) I'm not a smoker and don't like being in someone else's cloud. But it's their lungs and their life. We all make choices. I eat too much cake. :p

I've observed a lot of people while waiting for trains and trams. On the train platforms in Bern, there are maybe 3 spots for rubbish or cig disposal along the entire length of the platforms. People dump a lot of trash and newspapers on the ground too so it's not just smokers that litter. People are too lazy or in too much of a hurry to take the extra steps, whether it's for a cigarette or a coffee cup.

So you try to demonstrate smokers egotism (as if all were the same to begin with) by the photograph of a ashtray that's been made proper use of.

Obviously logic isn't really your forte.
