What are they measuring? What's success? What's failure?
sanval claimed it was a"trial" therefore going by its meaning it is a test to assess its suitability or performance. I have no idea what they are trialling and what would be viewed as successful or failure.

hopefully at all stations and in all public transport waiting areas. Let them smoke in the rain

Returning to the smoking at train stations question, SBB started a no-smoking trial at 6 stations around Zurich a couple of weeks ago. I saw this at Stadelhofen but don't know which other stations are affected. I guess it will lead to a no-smoking policy at more and more stations going forward.

That's what I thought - a ill-thought out feeble attempt by management with no conviction and no balls.

Re: Smoking on the train platforms.uughh

Let's say they compare any reactions received from the public, for and against. Unless there is a big majority against it then the trial would be a success and becomes the new rule. SBB gains because stations are automatically cleaner. Would many people care so much about it to even send SBB their opinion?

You are posting this on a public forum and so reacting. Similarly people will give their opinion to SBB They´ll probably be flooded with reactions.

Re: Smoking on the train platforms.uughh

If you're a smoker roegner I guess you'd be a bit miffed and let them know it. By the way I checked the poster again and it's about 6 stations in Switzerland not only Zurich so it seems a smoking ban at all stations could soon be on the cards here.

Re: Smoking on the train platforms.uughh

Hi

In Basel we are lucky to be enjoying a smoke free environment at the station. I still have to remind a few people that they are not allowed to smoke but it is a cast improvement. The problem is Zurich station which is a smoke pit. Sadly there is still no time line when Zurich station will join the modern world and put its passengers first.

Have fun and a smoke free day
Martin

I was in the Basel station the other day and remarked to my friend how it actually smelled better! Even good, I would say. The no smoking has really improved the atmosphere there.

As passengers are made up of both smokers and non-smokers, your comment seems confusing, unless of course, as a member of a sharing caring society, you are hoping that any changes introduced will take into consideration both sets of passengers.

or are you simply being Victor Meldrew.

One does not have to consider the smokers at all. They are the ones that make the whole problem. Zero tolerance.

It's a problem for those people that don't like breathing in your smoke.

Go and smoke away from everyone else.

Are you really so selfish?

I don't ride trains. Can't stand the smell of all these unshowered people. I could force them all to shower but .....

Yes, that's the problem with people who take public transport, they have no time for personal hygiene.
