| | No Snow No Fun
Good morning,
When do you think we'll have some snow? The outlook for snow looks grim (I checked for first half of February).
Good luck

Well I'm not sure how accurate weather forecasts are beyond about 3 days out, but regardless it is a depressing situation that doesn't seem likely to get better soon! http://www.meteoswiss.admin.ch/web/e...t.par0002.html |

Never known a snowless Jura in January!
Sestrière in North-West Italy had so much snow lately that they had to cancel races at the week-end (1 metre in a couple of days) - and yet nearby Chamonix is struggling for snow. WTF.

I was at Laax today & the snow conditions were great. Skiing, though, not so great for snowboarders. Quite a lot of people, too.

I am sick of snow. |

The problem is that we've got already all the snow for this winter, so there's no more.....
I guess it was an error from the sky snowshop |

Isn't it lovely? Like an early spring.
Mind, a little bit of sunshine wouldn't go amiss.

It's horrible, I've been looking forward to winter for ages and the bugger never really gets here.
What use is a snowless winter here? It's not like you can go out for a sun tan, it's still freezing. At least when there's snow you can go up in the mountains and get some sport done and catch the sun.
I need this! Otherwise I hang around the apartment all weekend playing playstation in my underwear recovering from hangovers I wouldn't have if I had the incentive to go home at a reasonable hour. | This user would like to thank cyrus for this useful post: | |

It's getting serious in the US with snow alert so I heard as my cuz sent me the FB notification from New Jersey. I wish we could share some of this snow in the northern hemisphere.
This weather is so unclear. It's freezing outside with low temps but no sign of precipitation. It doesn't make sense to go to the mountains as most likely there is going to be crust and icy runs. It's also too cold to go hiking. So I guess wait and watch with plenty of booze seems to be the answer.

You should have been out enjoying winter the end of November and December. Plenty of powder days to be had then.
I'm sure the snow is going to be back, until then I'll enjoy my bike.
@Dougal, there is plenty of sunshine you just got to get a little bit out of Zurich.

Here's hoping for some sun in the Congo Hinterland tomorrow morning.
EDIT: Yay! There's going to be sunshine! It'll be -9, but at least I'll see blue sky!
Cheers, Eire! |

But on some slopes ice skates would have been more useful than skis. And i don't like the new scratches my soles got from all the rocks peaking through the snow.
Give me snow! Or give me sun and warmth so i can go and play golf or get on the bike (i am not a die hard like Eire).

It just makes me laugh when people give the Jura bad rep - and yet we spend most of Winter in brilliant sunshine, whilst people on the many Rivieras are in the Peutsch (Roman slang word for cr****y grey mess). don't care how cold it gets as long as it is sunny and dry. |

I had great skiing, I mean sliding on edges last week... I also noticed that many resorts started opening new runs - colour code BROWN. Despite more alternatives, still remember though the rule not to eat yellow snow |
