Nothing to do with guns though. My OH's mum was hard as nails. She had to be as her man was a nuisance. So he can stand on his own two feet, cook, iron, survive - and mostly he does not feel threatened by women with a mind of their own! Where is that Harry Henfield 'little woman' dinner party video. It's so wonderful.

I love it when a man is enough charming to open the door for me. Small little thing that make my day. My face will light up and I'll give him a big smile.
And I know that it makes his day too to see me happy and smilling about it!
Win - win situation!

I became quite aware of the last couple of days, looking around at how smokers behave and to be honest, I don't think the average person on the street actually does pay enough attention to the people around them. I think that people (and no, not just smokers ) would do well to start learning some pro-active manners.

Anyway, these basic "civil" behaviour things take time to explain ..... and opportunities to present themselves. Time that many parents just don`t seem to have these days, with all their commitments to earning a living.

Yes Janite, I do agree, we are different.
For instance, professionally, men tend to be very successful as they have the capacity to skim the essential right off the surface and use it to get ahead, while women tend to take care of all the fine details to make it work.
Complementary is the term that comes to mind. The capacity to enhance the other's best perhaps. The best successful teams are often male/female regardless of the subject.
Nevertheless, I really do not see how and when today's education has "feminised" the world and has impacted young men ?
What do you mean by that ?

Males are more femalish and females are more maleish. For me the whole situation is a bit sad but I suppose its just a matter of preferences. Anyway, in the future gay people will be able to clone or get improved versions of themselves; or even get versions of themselves and their same-sex partners. Maybe I'm old fashioned and this thingy of having well defined sexes is just getting obsolete.

If your topic is education, I must insist on definitions. Calling something feminin just because it is done by women does not do it for me. The stereotyping does not qualify as valuable concepts either in my class, it be the ones from the 19th century or from late 20th.
Learning that gender is only a PART of identity would help male and female students of all ages (and a couple of teachers too). Not denying the gender part is a wonderful program for a school, but overdoing it will just ruin it. In foreign language teaching curriculum, I had a fight myself about only using sport as a masculin topic and have the rest straight from a girl's bedroom (clothes, shopping, books, diary...) We changed that according to feedback from students and to research we could find. Having colleagues with teen boys helped a lot too, our consultants in a way. But in some grades, the main focus now is actually making them understand that boys and girls actually belong to the same species, as it is rarely clear to them.
That being said, your discussion is broader than this remark's focus, so I understand that many other points made were totally valid even when not directly matching my assertions.

We're the weaker sex.
Men don't live as long as women.
We get more heart attacks, strokes and prostate trouble.
I say, it's time for a change. I say, let them give us money. Let's live off them for a while.
That probably shocks you, right?
