I do understand your point of view. I'm not sure it's really the case here though. It's still a very masculine society. There are relatively less engineers, mechanics, IT skilled professionals, scientists etc who happen to be women. There seem to be very clear gender-related professions or even expected daily tasks.... which is why I was so suprised by the idea of a "feminized" society.

I honestly don't get it. I've found the exact opposite to be true in Switzerland. Men are incredibly polite. More than just hold a door, they'll actually step back a bit to ensure you walk through first. And really, even if it's just to stare at your ass – for such manners, they've earned it.

| | Re: Where are the REAL MEN? | Quote: | | | | | I know where you can find one of these "REAL MEN" of which you speak...
When my daughter was a young baby still feeding through the night, each time she needed to feed, he'd get up and fetch her and bring her to me and then place her back in bed after her tummy was full. He did this when I had my son too.
If he arrives home early enough from work (which is often, he especially leaves early in the morning so that he can come home early enough to help me out) he'll do the entire bath/bed-time routine for both of the kids.
He sits through nauseating chick flicks with me.
He loves me even though I can really be full of nonsense at times.
The list goes on and on and on..
and he is right here sitting next to me on the couch watching yet another chick flick with me
I was dimly aware of some small people in the house with me and as for the chick flicks, as long as the chicks were half naked.. | This user would like to thank slammer for this useful post:

For all who wish to really understand the delightful battle of genders, I would really suggest you do not miss this one-man-show.
The Caveman Show http://www.caveman.ch/
It's absolutely hilarious and with elegance and intelligence, and allows an insight of the other gender's way of thinking. I loved it !!!!
It's being played in English, French and German.
.... thought of some of the opinions mentioned in this thread

I have one of these but telling you where I got it from's another matter. Once I have a ring on her finger I might update.
She's just not career minded (although I would support anything she wants to do) and we share a lot of the day to day tasks.
We can both cook it's just I prefer to fill her screenwash and get her car cleaned than cook the dinner.
I had the previous type some years ago, career minded and I got bored of watching walls why they were in meetings and furthering their career.
They also tend to be bitchy and wonder more about what the neighbours have than the state of their own relationships. I personally can't live my life thinking about what lawnmower people have and I really don't care. In work in my experience they tend to be the twisted backstabbing type.
Then again I really don't care who earns the money or cooks, it's about spending time being with that person. | Quote: | | | | | more to the point where are the REAL women? you know, the ones who know how to cook, clean and take care of a household? women who want to have children instead of trying to out-macho men in the career race just to prove that they are 'equal'. women who don't believe that their life should be an entitled life of leisure and shopping.
it's a pretty sad state of affairs when men can cook better and cook more often than women. | | | | | | This user would like to thank for this useful post:
