...or chivalry is really dead? With half of the earth population being male, there are extremely few real men out there. Don't get me wrong, I completely blame the over chickefication of guys by overzealous feminists, but really ladies, we are just working against us. Yesterday I was walking my dog when my ankle gave away and I was flat on my face in the middle of the street. A guy was walking by about ten feet away from me, looking at me laying on the ground and he WALKS AWAY!! Without saying a word! Now I am not someone waiting to be rescued by men ( I was a US Army wife for 12 years after all ) but an "are you all right?" would've been very welcome .
Maybe I am old fashioned but I do love when men open doors for me, saying hello to me first, or taking heavy bags from me. Not because I am less capable but these little acts of kindness shows respect. And in my opinion the world could use a little more respect in it. End of rant.

Adrianlondon--I am laughing now, after all it is pretty hilarious to see someone on their face And I wouldn't have been mad at him for doing so if he comes over after and asks if I was ok. Which I wasn't , I think I have a broken thumb. Maybe DB and I can hop over to the dr's office and get a discount on X-rays.

So what if the observer had been a woman? Think it's not possible? I imagine your problem is one of you found a person without a sense of 'common' decency, don't you think? There are plenty of those, of both genders.

Perhaps Phdoofus, but we tend to naturally expect (well at least hope) that a gentleman will help. Especially when you've hurt yourself and you're flat on your face.
Janite hope you're ok. mmmm turn it to your advantage and declare yourself on strike and have the rest of your family pamper you for a while !

I do realize there are idiots in both genders but this incident only started my train of thought. I do blame women, mothers for bringing up boys with no sense of who they are. In today's society people are so afraid to raise boys to be boys, that there is no way they have a chance to grow up to be Men. When schools suspend little boys for making paper guns and teach them that there are no difference between man and women and force them to adapt to a more feminine world, that's what I don't get.

sorry to hear about your injury, but as was mentioned, this behaviour would have been rude, no matter what the gender of the other person is.
how does making a paper gun teach someone to be polite and helpful?
And what about blaming their fathers? Surely they should be the ones teaching and leading by example?

Ahhhhh finally! What an interesting point.. (though I don't agree with it )
Why do you believe that society has changed its way in regards to education ?
- I don't see why you would suggest that paper guns (or make believe plastic pirate swords etc) would have anything to do with becoming a "real" man.
- Erasing the differences between genders via education, doesn't make a man a wimp. It helps men understand that women are equals
- Where do you get this idea of a feminine world ?

At first you blamed feminism (btw I don't think feminists have anything to do with lack of common sense and curtesy), now moms, or society. I think it is just up to guys to grow up, take the responsibility. The minute we quit blaming others for making these "men" immature, they might step up to the plate.
I think I would equally expect men or women to check on me if I landed on my face, it would probably shock me more if a guy wouldn't offer his hand to stand up, or such. I find old little ladies to be the most chivalrous here, btw.
