Electricity checking required, is this normal?

Dear Friends

I was being asked from my landlord, before I move out, I should get a company to have my kichen checked, all the electricty related, such as stove, ovens, disk machine. Is this normal to ask so?

No, it is their/the owners responsibility, unless of course you agreed to it in your contract.

not correct, as Upthehatters2008 noticed.

if you know of problems in your kitchen, try to fix it yourself (changing bulbs in oven or refrigerator for example). if there are bigger electricity problem of any technical sort you know of, then you have to let a company fix it (in advance coordination with your landlord).

but not precautionary when there are no signs of damages.

Re: Electricity checking required, is this normal?

I have just moved to a new apartment and the person that was living here before had to do one of these checks. I was also surprise (even I'm the one that benefits from it) and I looked in my new contract.

It does say it and you have to do it. I have also asked around and I have been told that it depends on the agency that rents the apartment. Some of them are very demanding.
