I think it is funny when a straight macho dude goes around sporting a D&G logo, likely unaware that Dolce & Gabbana is a gay couple.
I don't care about their private life, as long as they keep churning out good stuff like this

As these designers' models - no matter which gender - look like teenage boys, so I'd say they have a fair share of Wikipedia reference-linkEphebophilia... Lagerfeld for example has a 19yr old "source of inspiration". You don't need to look like a model that meets the demands of an old weird homosexual - because you can't anyway. Just take his creations as art.
It's not just designers, it's the media as a whole (and I guess the two are linked because the media can and do make mediocre design seem great just by repeating how good it is ad nauseam), but if I look at the type of girl that wins beauty pageants these days I can't help but think that something has gone seriously wrong in somebody's preferences - and remember that these pageants are set up and the jury appointed by the same media that reports on them.

Yeah. Especially when it's a man bag.

I used to wear 501's until I found out Levi Strauss was a black dude. I didn't want anyone thinking I was black too.

It's for this reason I refrain from wearing green or blue. I don't want people thinking I'm envious or sad

Make sure you don't wear yellow either - it's got its own meaning here.

A couple of years ago I had a chat with a govt. official in China. I asked him how much is being done to combat counterfeits, seeing as everything is openly sold despite their promises to clamp down.

He claims that the people in the industry themselves are not interested in combating fakes. People like LV "allows" the counterfeit market to thrive because it creates brand awareness amongst chinese people. The chinese are all getting richer and at some point, even if a small percentage of them can afford an LV bag, LV will make tonnes of money. The chinese love to show off their status, and what better way to do it than to show everyone around you that you have the real thing in a sea of fakes. Of course, this wouldn't be possible if there was no counterfeit market.

So I don't think LV cares that much that in Europe their brand is diluted by fakes. What matters is the huge potential market in China.
Quite to the contrary, LV knows that their brand is brought to the attention of people who could NOT buy the originals. Their brand of course also is "diluted" in China, but it is made known by the "Diluters". What they do via the courts is an exercise in "shadow boxing"

"Straight Macho Dudes" also travel by airplane and enjoy getting served good beverages by male flight attendants, in spite of the open secret that a majority of male flight attendants are gay

Relax. As a private person, you can import at least 3 liters (more even I suppose) of US Budweiser, as the USA Budweiser trademark is supported in quite many countries outside Europe, but commercially the Czech Budweiser has won in court in most European countries. The trick is that the US company is older than the Czech company but that the Budweis beer tradition is far older than the USA company. AND that neither copied from the other company but both followed the old City of Budweis tradition.
And how about Labatt Blue

Re: My fake Louis Vuitton contraband was seized at Geneva Airport's Customs

First of all, sporting a logo of a fashion brand is ridiculous to begin with. An unaware straight male sporting a D&G logo is about as victimized by a fashion brand as it can get, and I do find it ironically funny that someone trying to identify with a luxury brand would have the messaging backfire on him.

This, I agree with you. I have a problem to buy something with someone's logo and do free publicity for him and even have paid to do so.

This, I don't get what you are talking about. I don't even understand how someone's sexuality has something to do with buying a brand or not. A brand is a brand.

If I had money to spend on brands I can tell you that I would never spend it on Christian Audigier. Why? Not because of with who he sleeps or not but simply because the guy is a fake, a M'a-tu vu (a did you see me) and I can't stand the guy in general...

Somebody's sexuality has nothing to do with the quality of his work or brand....

The quality of a T-shirt? I'm sorry, but these T-shirts are not expensive because of the quality. They are expensive because of the logo. And buying into such a logo already shows a mindless drone obedience to fashion brands. The mindlessness of it is ironically funny.

mindless drone obedience ... mindlessness
Mindless, or merely 'having different taste to Phos'?

Clothes like these aren't really my cup of tea, but I wouldn't condemn those who wear them as 'mindless'.

I'm not condemning anybody. I simply find it ironic in many cases.

So if anyone likes it, it's their prerogative. No need to throw away your D&G logo infested wardrobe on my account.

Calling somebody's preference for a particular kind of clothing 'mindless' sounds pretty condemnatory to me.

Anyway, how is it 'ironic'? Are you using the word in the Alanis Noisette sense?
