Yes of course there are other places where you have these "qualities",
but we are discussing Switzerland is this forum, but anyway I would expect that with so HIGH quality of life people to be more joyful and relaxed, it does not fit, people here are sad, serious, angry, depressive etc, how can this be?

It's sort of a Rorschach effect. People notice what they are looking for and attract the vibration they send out. One doesn't notice the sad, serious, angry and depressive people when one is ignoring them. There is so much beauty out there, why waste time on those?

I tell everyone at home that everything in Switzerland costs double, that's why there is the 2 Fr store whereas we have the $1 store.
Umm, when I moved here the exchange rate was almost 2:1, and Swiss prices haven't changed much in the meanwhile, so CHF 2 vs. USD 1 seems correct to me.

Switzerland got over that savagery in like 1850, and so is a more advanced society in that sense by about 160 years.
Indeed.

We are older than Italy!

Is that a MkII Ford Escort I see in the Widnes picture? Must have been taken a while ago. The area has gone downhill since that pic was taken I think.

In the run for the most beautiful city of Europe, THIS city for sure would be the frontrunner, possibly challenged by these ones

Budapest

+

Colmar

+

Strassburg

+

Brügge

+

Pisa + Viareggio
Strasboug has always been my favorite, followed by Paris.

Lugano a close 3rd.

Two interesting words here:
- parallel import. The Swiss consumer associations have been fighting against it for as long as I can remember watching Swiss TV. No very successful, I support this fight, you too obviously.
- fair price. Quite a new concept in capitalism, as fair implies morals. Since Das Kapital, we all have understood that morality is not part of the plan in a market economy (the book is apparently on the Harvard reading list, so I've been told). Fair implies therefore a definition of fairness, and I tend like you to define as a consumer, because I am one. But I am aware of the fact that all parts in the market economy are playing with words of definitions. And get their own interests first. What does that have to do with morals? Nothing, that's the point. Even if it should.
<> sorry, but your statement "the Swiss consumer associations have been fighting against it" sounds wrong as it of course has been the other way round as they have been fighting in favour of it and against the prohibition against it

We all have different references, I like to Switzerland due to :
- well structured / organized
- clean
- high degree of self responsibility
- ...and of course financially (which is only true if you're a single man without no children working at CS.)

But I also like...
- modesty
- friendliness
- self-objectivity
- patience
- humour
- solidarity
- equality
- regretfulness

The Switzerland is top notch with the "hard" factors, but when it comes to soft human factors they have a long way to go...

I will probably get 100s of "gtfo", "if you don't like it here go home..." etc, that is all fine, but it will not probably not change anything because what comes around goes around...

note: this is complaints corner, if you as a swiss or swiss fan boy and can't take criticism you better stay out, people need to vent...so let them without name calling etc.
Let's have a look at these priorities here
- modesty ---- CH people and modest ?
- friendliness --- CH people and friendly ... . YES
- self-objectivity ... CH people and self-objective .... not so much
- patience ... CH people and patient .... NO, not at all and never
- humour ... CH people humourous ... YES
- solidarity ... CH people and solidarity-feeling .... YES
- equality ... CH people and in favour of equality .... YES
- regretfulness .... ?????

NO, the car importers profit from ANTI parallel import laws, and so are absolutely against parallel imports !!!!! why do you turn things upside down ????

Forgot to ask you, where did you get that info from? Among the 15 richest Swiss living in Switzerland, there is one car importer, and among the 15 richest foreigners living in Switzerland there is none, unless you count the Peugeot clan, but they own car factories abroad and do not import cars to Switzerland in the first place.

So we have one car importer among 30 richest persons or clans. Not exactly very much, don't you think? Definitely not enough to justify your sweeping statement.

@cannuck
"do you have a swiss passport? have you done military service? military service is contributing. if you don't, no you can't complain. the swiss have built their own country, and by contributing no you didn't, they paid you money to work here! and you pay taxes so you can use, like we all do. you choosed to come here. "

As the other thread was closed I couldn't answer you on this. As for your questions: Yes, I have a swiss passport and did my service (not military).
And I did not choose to come here, I was born here.

You could have easily find that out. I thanked you for the post because I had to laugh and spilled my coffee. No idea why the others thanked you!
