Side note: I am pretty sure Brusselles was chosen BECAUSE it is so boring. If it was a great place, it could give Europe some identity, something all national leaders really do not want to see. As far as I remember did the French insist it to be on French soil and everybody else insisted it to be "somewhere else than France", so the agreed on Belgium for half of the time and move several thousand people to Strassbourg every few weeks. Probably the most idiotic comittee decision in modern history.
