Im new right, so maybe I havent understood well yet. But taking 4 points off my reputation for the comments on this thread is in my view, petty, spiteful and shows that you cannot possibly have any sense of humour at all.

I’m pretty sure we’ve all been there, weather we admit it or not. There are definitely downsides of everything.
Being an expat is hard, living in a small village is hard (Bulle, seriously?), not being fluent in the local language makes it hard to get friends.
I’ve had my dooown times, and felt very low. I think I didn’t even realize myself how low I felt until a co-worker who tends to dress like a clown asked me in front of everyone why I was always so angry. First I wanted to slap her for dare saying that to me (I mean, coming from a bloody clown!), but then I looked out of the window and realized it wasn’t raining outside. It was only raining on me.
It takes a lot of strength to get yourself out of it, you need to focus on the positive sides of your life and if you can find one positive thing to think about every day, you will get more positive automatically.

I sent you help as PM. It really helped me to understand the place.

EDIT: Even I know that it is IT'S BEST and not ITS BEST.... but keep trying, your English is perhaps your fifth language like me.

EDIT 2: I learned something today: Dont't help people, just stay off topic instead of having a normal exchange by MP. I learn so much about humour since I am here, so much...

always something isnt it.

Hmmm... those sound like the excuses I was talking about. Certainly not discounting what you say, but like I said I've been in similar frames of mind while living overseas. You really sound like you need a break. Be creative:

- Doesn't the gf get 3 or 4 weeks of vacation like everyone else? Use a couple days in the middle of the week.

- Do you have colleagues you could trade a weekend for/with?

- Is your gf as stressed as you are? Who says she has to go with you?
Take Tuesday thru Thursday and go sit on a mountain in Northern Italy (or some other break that suits your tastes and fits your parameters.)

If I told my wife that I needed a break because I was about to choke the living *%)#@ out of <insert some random citizen> from <some random country>, she'd say "Send me a postcard."

Again, trying to be helpful. You sound stressed. And I read further in the thread that you live in the French-speaking part (as we do.) From what our Vaudoise friends tell us, Swiss life could be tougher...

OMG, I saw the original post this morning and now it already has 12 pages. And we still have a few hours to go when all those working EFers come home and post away!

All about this neurotic, nationalistic, self-important, itty-bitty country that we live in. </sarcasm>

Now who said that Switzerland is boring? :D

However, I still don't think it's appropriate to do culture-bashing on public forums. If you want to "vent", do so in your bathroom (but not after 10 p.m. or before 6 a.m.).

What is there to love about a country in which I :

Pay extremely low taxes

Can pay for a Coke with a CHF 100 bill, without the cashier batting an eyelash.

Am restricted to walk and drive on clean streets

Never have to smell urine in public places

In 25 years have never been a witness to or a victim of a crime

Am compelled to live within a hour's drive to the world's most dramatic mountains

Am forced to manage most administrative formalities in a few minutes with no or short lines

Live 5 minutes from the city and have an apple orchard and sheep farm just across the street from my home

?

:msntongue:

Dawiz u were saying you wouldntAUSTRALIA go on a public forum USA, UK etc and complain on a public forum. It is hard to draw any kind of meaning from it since you first need to live in a country where there is as much to complain about as there is in Switzerland. Then, the local population has to treat you the way swiss folk treat foreigners. In countries like USA, UK etc you might get the odd person here or there who will not like you as a foreigner (although some specific races are now being frowned upon), but a majority of the population will have no problem with you, and so usually not enough to make you feel like you need to vent on a public forum.

Do you want me to start about CANADA;) Odd you din`t mentioned AUSTRALIA;)I Think almost everyone goes true what OP goes true if you go to a strange place,it is though :oIt hase taken me 5 years to get used to Canada , at least,Today I would not go back to Switzerland

Really? A lot of the streets I walk on have a lot of chewing gum and cigarette butts on them.
