I know I know im just being annoyed right now but even when I am not i simply do not like it. I like the foreigners, but being here 2.5 years I barely have any swiss friends, get along just ok with my fiances dad (swiss) and I know its not me cause i have tons of foreigners friends.

and I just received a bunch of bogus bills which i will have to bitch about again tomorrow. I simply do not like it here.
but f it and ill jsut move along, make my money and take it all out of this place to start a life that i want and enjoy

The amount we save in tax they take in bullshit charges - when I was in Tokyo it was mandatory "pension" that you btw dont get as a foreigner unless you stay until you pension

I was here first time about 20 years ago and about yearly since, so it's not really "a new thing" - my parents retired here (for tax reasons) and other family live here as well

Switzerland is really simple - follow the rules and you'll be fine - bend em and they will spank you hard. I was in Stuttgart on Monday and came down the autobahn again doing proper speed, arrived in CH and did "what I can afford" speed - it's just about being flexible though it felt like snailing along

and... cablecom (a upc / liberty global enterprise) is not swiss. only located in switzerland. they have very strict guidelines from UPC/LGI about making profits (ripping off customers).

When I lived in Colorado, I hated it there so much you have no idea. Every single day all I could think about was how soon until I could move. It was pretty bad. Sounds like you may need a move

Well believe me you need a break. Start an Anglo-Swiss club or something. Take up cooking as an evening class. Go for a long walk twice a week, walk to Gruyère village and take the bus back. Go swimming. Do something different!

I used to feel like that in north Carolina. I felt it was a total and complete rip off. All our friends were transplants, everyone seemed to treat us like we were lucky to be there. Slightly different circumstances, but I know how you feel. I hope it improves for you soon.

I went through a phase of utterly loathing everything about Switzerland, from its prehistoric work culture to the shoving on the trains to the miserable, pinch faced cows in the supermarkets.

Then things got a bit better, and I saw it all in a new light. These days I love it here (most of the time), but it has taken a rollercoaster journey of nearly six years to get to that stage.

Of course, the work culture is still prehistoric, people still shove to get on the trains, and the supermarkets are still full of miserable, pinch faced cows (in Zurich, at least... ), but it's ok, because everywhere is a bit crap, really, and you've got to live somewhere.

Ride your misery like a wave, and one day you'll be sitting in a cafe somewhere, or travelling on a cable car, or walking down a country road and you'll suddenly realise "hang on a minute, I quite like it here! Perhaps it's not so bad after all?"

I understand, however, that some people never reach that stage, that Swiss culture will never be to their taste, and that's fair enough. Sooner or later you'll have the opportunity to leave again. Even if you have family obligations, there are ways of getting away for a few months/a few years/forever, if you wait long enough.

It just takes time.

well, if you hate everything about Switzerland, I'm not surprised you don't have swiss friends (or barely)... most of the natives, like me, prefer to have friends who, at least, appreciate the country where they are living.....
