I know I know im just being annoyed right now but even when I am not i simply do not like it. I like the foreigners, but being here 2.5 years I barely have any swiss friends, get along just ok with my fiances dad (swiss) and I know its not me cause i have tons of foreigners friends.

and I just received a bunch of bogus bills which i will have to bitch about again tomorrow. I simply do not like it here.
but f it and ill jsut move along, make my money and take it all out of this place to start a life that i want and enjoy

crap like that is exactly what I mean. like I canceled my cable 2 months ago, yet I just received the bill for Jan to March.....

The amount we save in tax they take in bullshit charges - when I was in Tokyo it was mandatory "pension" that you btw dont get as a foreigner unless you stay until you pension

I was here first time about 20 years ago and about yearly since, so it's not really "a new thing" - my parents retired here (for tax reasons) and other family live here as well

Switzerland is really simple - follow the rules and you'll be fine - bend em and they will spank you hard. I was in Stuttgart on Monday and came down the autobahn again doing proper speed, arrived in CH and did "what I can afford" speed - it's just about being flexible though it felt like snailing along

cablecom is known for crappy service and sending bills months after canceling.
and... cablecom (a upc / liberty global enterprise) is not swiss. only located in switzerland. they have very strict guidelines from UPC/LGI about making profits (ripping off customers).

What happens if you don't pay the bill? What happens if you don't show up for fireman duty?

well, if you hate everything about Switzerland, I'm not surprised you don't have swiss friends (or barely)... most of the natives, like me, prefer to have friends who, at least, appreciate the country where they are living.....

But now, I appreciate to write what I wrote, it's one of my little selfish pleasure on this forum (where I'm a guest as I'm a native)

Following all the "my God this place is awful" comments I did an experiment a while ago. I decided I was going to be British only for a few days. So I didn't speak any German to any of the strangers I encountered in my daily life. I was still my friendly, helpful self, just in English.

Guess what, people were STILL nice to me, still smiled when I smiled first, still helped me when I asked them something. So I REALLY don't get where all this nastiness is happening because it's not where I am. Sure, some shop ladies are quite rude but they are rude because they know they can't sell me anything, it's all too small. Of course that's annoying but it's not a REAL problem. And compared to French shop ladies, ours are truly charming.

As for economisto's comment, well, I'd expect more than colonialist, racist attitude from a mod and question the decision to make someone who so overtly hates this country and it's inhabitant a mod on this forum.

...and stop trying to advise him what he can do to change his life when something like a long walk in the country might turn things around for him?
