| | I received a bill that I didn't commit
I received a bill from MBC or a bus company in Morges (by the way, I'm from Geneva) indicating that I owe them 140chf for not paying for the bus ticket, and another 100chf for false address in January this year, they sent it over my mother's work place which really pissed me off. At first I ignored it because it was a clearly a joke to pay for something I did not do, or maybe they might've mistaken for another name. Then just this now I received another bill, with much higher cost. So then I called the company and asked for explanations. I asked them, what did ''I'' (this person) showed as an identification document or any ID's, because for sure, if you get caught, you must show an ID or any document. They just told me to wait for a call to clear things up. The question running to my mind now is how can they ticket a person without showing any ID's, if I've really done it, I could've chosen a different name. What kind of system is that?

If you did, pay up. The fines are not going to get any cheaper the longer you wait. They obviously found you, doesn't really matter how they did at this point, does it?

Can you prove where you were that day? A timesheet from work for example? It might help if you can show that you were nowhere in the area |

I always thought you have to give an ID. I show how they ask people for ID when they not have the ticket. Did you loose your ID anytime? Could be any person with your same name?

Just claiming that didn't work?

Just claiming that didn't work? | | | | | yes but the thing is, they've sent it over my mother's workplace which I find ridiculous. And it is totally embarrassing for my mother as well

It all just screams "Scam" to me.
Photo or scan the "bill" (hide any correct personal details of course) and let's have a proper look at it!
The paying-in slip is always especially interesting...

This probably should have been done as soon as you got the first bill, but it is not too late now:
1) Call them up
2) Tell them that is not your name and you do not know why they are sending you other people's bills
3) Wait and see what they say
Sounds like you have done (1) and (2) already, so just wait until you get the call back and listen to what they say. Don't muddle things by asking questions of your own (time and date, what form of ID the person showed, etc.) Keep it simple and let them do the talking. If they ask for a copy of your ID to compare to whatever ID they have on file, just send it to them. They may not have a right to demand it, but you want to get this straightened out quickly, right? EDIT: this presumes you have established that you are indeed talking to the bus company. Check them in the phone book. Is it the same number you were told to call?
If it's not your mother's name, it shouldn't be embarrassing for her any more than for you. Mistakes happen. The goal now is to get it cleared up quickly so that they can stop bothering you/your mother and move on to the actual offender.

Sometimes I wish we could slow these things down a bit. One thing I don't understand is why, if a 'bill' turned up at your Mother's workplace with a name on which isn't yours, anyone decided it concerned you. If you and your mother have the same 'family name' this could just as well be for her.

Send them a registered letter. Deny their accusation, ask for proof.
