Nyon Shopping hours

Anyone else get cuaught out by the change in shopping hours in Nyon last night.

Typical Swiss now call late night shopping 7 p.m. When it used to be 8.

My Wife went to Migros only to find everything just shutting up.

The thing that upset her the most was that there was no notification of the change last Friday when she went.

New shopping hours are posted on the Nyon website

Re: Nyon Shopping hours

I saw a notice in the Migros sometime in the last week.

Basically, things are open a half hour later all week, an hour less on Friday (was 20:00, now 19:00) and an hour later on Saturday. Seems like a decent change to me, an extra half hour during the week will make a big difference to the Mud family.

Re: Nyon Shopping hours

There are things here open on Sunday until 22hr? Where are these magical, mythical places?

I'm going to have to do some exploring given we finally moved in to our brand new apartment here on Friday, but delighted to see I can make a mad dash for Migros from the train after work (although it's probably the worst time to go to Migros I imagine...)

Probably at the train station and some family business around the neighbourhood. We have a Migrolino who has very long opening hours and sunday included.

No. Nyon is miniscule, unlike cities that have trains station/airport late shopping.

The evening store at the train station closes at 8pm, EmpreessJo. I will probably meet you there, sooner or later .

Warrelpa, it was announced by a little stand of SIC right in front of Manor, April 2. That activity comes from them. Apparently, big stores dictate the opening hours, they welcome better customer service, while little shop owners (a friend is) dislike being told when to open for their customers (it gets lonely to be alone in a shop for long hours, ahem).

Any comment or issues you would like to have addressed, just contact SIC. I am thrilled. The depanaire shop is bloody expensive.

Ditto, what Musikchick said, there have been papers posted on Migros for about a week or more announcing this.

Also the paper "La Cote", the tout menage version of last Thrusday, had a large article about it.

Personally, I found the notification of it very adequate and not sure how anyone could miss it.

Yep, would concur...Plenty of notices everywhere on the change really

And, frankly, this is not the US...You want 24/7 Walmarts, well, this is not the country for it....Thankfully

Re: Nyon Shopping hours

First time I've seen this - but then I don't to the town centre for shopping that often I suppose.

Handy though really, the extra hour on a Saturday in particular makes sense - I've been caught out once or twice by the 5pm close.
