| | Stupid banker cyclists
Well it rhymes with banker anyway .
Went over the Huftegg this evening - first time this year - and was a little dismayed to find traffic lights about half way going up. When they turned green I had the revelation that I'd have the road to myself - only about 2/3 of it due to the roadworks but all the same - potential for trying out the whole bend .
Going around bend 2 (about 3rd one from the top, bikers will know it's a silly one) and I've got the pegs showering sparks and grinning like an idiot when coming down there's two cyclists - no idea why I tried to miss them and nearly sent myself over the edge instead of spoiling their day. Absolute twunts. Another fine example of traffic lights not meaning a thing to these pratts. Luckily there was a large truck coming up behind me so I'm pretty sure the pair would have soiled themselves a few seconds later.
Cylists of the world - or at least the forum - please explain why you think you are above the law and can ignore the rules of the road. Red light. Get it?

Had a similar cyclist experience - cyclist decided to swerve in front of my 2.5 tonne car. Luckily I was expecting it, however, the cyclist made no attempt to check or signal (I was watching knowing what was going to happen). That one's not long for this world.
Another cyclist did the old "stick my arm out and swerve without checking" to a car that was already passing it. Another near miss avoided thanks to the driver's reactions (rather than the cyclist).
Can't for the life of me understand how some of them survive on the roads.

Get it? | | | | | The police were waiting for cyclists jumping the red light by the Opernhaus / Tibits junction in ZH last week. The amount of cyclists that normally jump this light must have made this quite a profitable spell for them. Maybe the police were collecting for their summer barbecue..

Near our local station, there's a footpath which is also, for a few hundred yards, a shared foot/cycle path. But it's mainly a footpath, as there is nowhere else for pedestrians to walk down that road.
That little detail didn't stop a group of cyclists from screaming abuse at a couple of old dears who were taking their time to walk down their local footpath the other day.
Pillocks. Is it the spandex that reduces blood flow to their brains, do you think?

So many have no respect for anything.... They cut cars, pedestrians, strollers, preggos, old ladies. Sometimes in a very dangerous way. The other day, one b*stard cut me while I was crossing the street. His arm hit me in my belly! If you didn't see a preggo swearing like a truck driver, you should have seen me!
I could have run after the Bast*rd if I didn't walk like a pinguin...
Red lights don't apply to them AND scooters apparently. Those stupid little motorbike drivers act like cyclists 25% of the time, pedestrians 25% of the time (I see them driving on the sidewalks ) and 50% of the time like a car.
Like it isn't enough to have pedestrians running into the street without looking if a car is there, or like it isn't enough to have drivers driving like maniacs.... Nope Mister, cyclists are jumping into that big mess of the: It is MY road get the hell out of my way! contest.
Thanks, I feel much better too!

I'm not going to defend people that do stupid things on bikes here, but people complaining about cyclists should really try it themselves once.Just go out into traffic and watch the cars overtake you and then take a right turn just BEFORE they have completely passed you, get cut off at roundabouts, sometimes even hit from behind because the car driver thought you were going to cross, etc.
My point is: no matter what your role in traffic, be it car driver, pedestrian or biker, all the others are usually idiots...

At a fair guess, I would say that the vast majority of idiot cyclists are also motorists, which makes their behaviour all the more ridiculous.
I cycle and drive, which a) makes me more aware of idiot drivers and b) makes me more aware of idiot cyclists.

Maybe the idiot cyclists and idiot motorists are the same people?

Perhaps they were not able to clear the lane in time before the lights at the other end turned green? Pedal power is often not factored into those roadwork lights in my experience. You then find yourself neither up nor down trying to get to the 'safe' zone beyond the roadworks before some fellow on a motorbike gets all Charlie Barry Sheen. |

Normally I cycle to work - today decided to walk as my bike needed fixing. One woman cyclist almost ran over me as I crossed a pelican crossing with the green man in my favour. The other classic is the idiots who think zebra crossing are a decoration on the road.
Cheers,
Nick
