| Zurich of course has industry, but the oil industry is a very particular one. AND quite many expats do NOT drive here due to the short distances, the public transport which is good at least in the urban areas, and the traffic density.
The car leasing contracts of banks are, by a decision of the Federal Court, regarded legally as car-rental operations. | |

I also guess that many car rentals are more targetting the business sector and don't care about normal folks. The spread of Mobility hasn't really affected the rental car business or led them to adjust their level of service or prices. Probably for them it's a completely different market and they're not part of it. Most of my friends who don't own a car of their own use Mobility. That leaves rental cars out of that segment completely, especially as many of the rental car offices and pick-up points are out in the sticks where public transport isn't that good, and if you already have a car you don't normally need to rent another. That particular part of rental car logic never made sense to me. It's probably much easier for them to cream off the corporate customers and forget the rest of the market.
Also, the labour intensive way that most car rental agencies work seems so luddite compared to the largely automated 24 hour approach of Mobility.
