Migros Customer service-or lack of it!!

Hi all,

Just a small warning to anyone who wants anything delivered from Migros. My husband and I went into Meilen Migros on 9 April to look at some garden furniture. We saw a really good set for 249.00 for four chairs with cushions and a table. We don't have a car over here due to the excellent public transport system. We arranged for our furniture to be delivered and paid 90 chf.

We were told that they would contact us that week to arrange delivery. We heard nothinng so I rang them yesterday, our balcony furniture is to be delivered Thursday 21 April. Twelve days after us ordering it. I think for 90 chf this is extremely poor, I even said that to the customer services guy who basically did not give a toss.

Moral of this story?? if you want to buy anything large from Migros then take along a friend with some transport,I personally will not be using their delivery service again

Re: Migros Customer service-or lack of it!!

When you look at the cost of hiring a small van for an hour, the CHF 90 begins to look attractive. However Migros will not be delivering it, they will probably have an agreement with a local spedition company, whom are very busy due to their own success!

Re: Migros Customer service-or lack of it!!

I have to balance this with a positive review of Migros delivery; two very pleasant guys came last week to deliver and assemble some bedroom furniture which was in a million pieces and took them an hour and a half of solid work to put together.

Often the furniture isn't in stock (due to space constraints in the warehouse) so if you factor in the lead time to get the furniture to the warehouse then the delivery schedule of the delivery firm, 12 days is reasonable. We had a 10 day wait because our stuff also had to be brought in from the manufacturer.

Alternatively, you can hire a van from mobility.ch, get the furniture back home the same day, for less than 90CHF, I am pretty sure. They have a collaboration with SBB called Click and Drive, where you dont need to pay their annual members fees. HTH

Another piece of story about our beloved swiss sense of customer service.
we ordered a bed frame from Pfister. We 100% upfront and were told that the bed would not be available to pick up before 3 weeks ! Fine. We can wait.

So we were supposed to finish our waiting and pick it up this Tuesday.

BUT,few days ago, one mail from PFISTER told us that the frame hadn't been prepared on time, and Pfister didn't think this was their fault. It was because the manufacturer of the bed couldn't complete it on time !

Our question is: If you can't guarantee to deliver it, how can you sell it ? What is Pfister's role in the entire purchase besides swapping our credit card ?

End of the story, we have to wait for another 3-week and nobody gives a sh1t.

Well, today, the Migros Group HAS such operations. In the "old days" when there were just a few outlets even in Zurich, many places were served at particular times of the day by the Migros-Wagen

I can sympathise totally with this. I ordered a table and benches (indoor) and paid a relative small fortune for the delivery and assembly service. 6 weeks later, still no table. After many calls to customer service, I finally get told that the table is no longer stocked due to faulty manufacture so would I like to buy something else instead. It took them 6 weeks to tell me that they were no longer going to deliver it! Needless to say, wasn't impressed. Got my money back, but now have to still wait for alternative table to arrive. Ho hum...

Re: Migros Customer service-or lack of it!!

OP: to avoid these issues I can recommend joining Mobility, so that you can take a car when you need it. However good the public transport is, sometimes it is just more convenient to have a car. For example with (furniture) shopping. They have transporter vans as well.

Alternatively, you can rent a van cheaply at IKEA, and I have also seen Otto's advertising that you can rent vans from 25 CHF/hr.

Faulty manufacture is a real problem nowadays. We as each year are to get some 200 copies of a book from England. But right today learnt that the printers forgot to include the 30 photo-pages and that it is not possible to re-use the finished books. They are right now in re-printing the whole stuff and in destroying the finished ones

We, and of course all the other distributors, now have to tell our customers about a heavy delay

Re: Migros Customer service-or lack of it!!

I am from Basel and I can confirm that I had the exact same issue with a wardrobe I purchased from M PARC -the big Migros place here (it was too long to fit the back of my Mercedes sedan even with the seats down). They had a service to rent one of their vans for 35 CHF/hour so that solution worked out pretty well and had the wardrobe back in my place the same day with no waiting

Absolutely right. I once bought a pack of fresh batteries and they refused to drive the 45 km to my house and install them. They wouldn't even open the packet, the lazy s*ds.
