too loud is only for non-Swiss...

Dear

We have carefully noticed that too loud only apply to non-Swiss residents. Swiss people and self declared Swiss nationals (C permits and you name it) have this tendency to impose their silly rules on freshly arrived people.

Do not be intimidated, and complain to the regie immediately, by phone.

If your hoffmeister is Swiss, Colombian, Greek, Turkish, Albanese, or Potugues, pick music from their homeland and play it very loud. And then blame them for the noise. You can always tell the police you only listen to Rihanna and show them your ipod.

Best

Re: too loud ;)

I think using common sense would be the best solution here as well. For you and for the Hofmeister.

There is the law for sure, but just because you are allowed to be noisy, you are not obliged to scream until 20:00 in the evening.
There might be a nurse coming home from nightshift, trying to get a nap, or whatever. So you can also lower your voice just cause you want to be nice and let that nurse sleep, instead of being extraloud cause its your "right".

Re: too loud ;)

Read about all these noise complaints on this forum before i moved here and almost couldn't believe it was that bad. But after having moved here, my neighbours complain about every sound they hear after 10 pm. I cannot sneeze at night without getting a complaint.

Seriously, there's something wrong with that part of the country.

Can't be. Their problem is they spend all winter drinking and listening to the blues and their ideal vacation is to go to Los Angeles.

At least you got one out of three right.
We do drink all winter (and summer), but we listen to swedish folk rock and our ideal vacation is Thailand.

Re: too loud ;)

There are a lot of quirky things people complain about ... our neighbor complained one day when we were playing classical music with our balcony door open ... but has never complained when we're playing rock music with the door open ... on a Sunday. Oh well ...

I got all three of them right, based on having lived there.

Is it true that it's against the law to fart on a Sunday here?

Re: too loud ;)

No, totally legit

We have 2 neighbours who work on a shift system, so if I see their bedroom window has the curtain closed during the day, I take special care not to mow the lawn, use a chain saw, or play 'throw the stick' with the dog, as she gets a bit excited. Just common sense and courtesy. He sounds like a miserable person - just ignore (unless he works nights?).

Easy mistake to make, given that Malawi is the Switzerland of Africa...

I disagree, based on being from there. LA is certainly not our idea of an "ideal vacation". The standard place to go was spain since the 60s, now its Thailand. We also enjoy pre-packaged charter (read: drinking) trips to Greece and south Turkey for example. However, more and more younger people are discovering USA and going to LA or Miami is concidered a "hip" thing to do, generating envy and respect among peers who go to thailand every year.

And very few people listen to the blues apart from me and my dad, while drinking of course.

I do maintian my generalisation is more accurate!
