The problem is that they could claim that they reserved it first. And considering that this is the only problem i have living here (and is the 3rd time in 2 years) i would like to be a bit non confrontational about it | | | | | The real Swiss thing is to write an anonymous letter to the person who did it.

Buy your own house? Expensive may be but believe me it's worth it! Lived in rented accommodation for years, the washroom (especially if you are a young, female and foreign - my opinion in the 1990s) was always a bone of contention. The best example was at the first flat I rented. One of the neighbours wrote a note (referencing the wash day- mine - not my name) claiming I hadn't cleaned the washroom properly, I took said note and knocked on his door, I politely asked if the note was for me? "Ja" *in grumpy, unfriendly tone* I answered "aber ich bin noch nicht eingezogen"!! (I haven't moved in yet) no answer, he turned red and shut the door! Never received another complaint... until the next flat I moved into and the other 7 I lived in (liked to move around a bit in my younger days), before any of you smart ones answer, I followed all the rules, washed at given time, cleaned the washroom etc.... so there was no need for complaints!! Having your very own washroom is pretty close to pure bliss.... in CH that is!!! Sad innit?!!!

Electricity is cheaper on Sundays too!

I've just asked in the office, confirmation you can wash on Sundays and the electricity is cheaper! Mmm learn something new everyday.

Yes, our communal laundry room is all full of shitty messages permanently, with arrows and all sorts.
I have also seen the shitty anonymous messages pasted up in the elevator about other stuff.
Am pleased that I will be going back home to Norfolk PERMANENTLY the end of June....

Some of the new apartments have their own washrooms, we were lucky enough to get one. Its hilarious, everyone that comes over for dinner isn't that interested in the view or the kitchen... just that we have our own washing machine and dryer in the 2nd bath
It does however mean that for as long as we live in Swizterland... we will never move out of our current apartment! |

They change the timings in January this year to make every day the same. It's only cheaper now during the night which is when everyone is using loads of electricity of course
On the up side we do have our own washer and dryer so I( can do my washing when I want |

Ok here is the end of this story | Quote: | | | | | For that you needed a man?!?
No wonder they get so full of themselves. | | | | | I didnt need a man for that but im glad he came with me to pick up the clothes.
So we go and there is a note on the washing machine saying "Maybe the next time you will respect the timings". OH replies on the note "Maybe next time you actually check the board before you reserve. We reserved it yesterday"
Then door opens and guess who it is. Mr idiot. He gets into an argument with OH saying he reserved yesterday. No he didnt. Nothing was at 8 when i went there. Anw argument lasted 10 seconds and ended with idiot walking off.

I moved out eventually... those stairs were old and steep, food shopping wasn't fun anymore!! I did wash on Sunday's then... whoa what a treat that was |

Just moved from a place with the laundry in our own bathroom to one in our own cellar.
As I don't use the WM or TD (I do the ironing!!!!) I can't comment which is better. Certainly is now quieter!

I had a similar incident last week actually, and our building has no wash plan.
I found my washing in one big wet pile on top of the machine (I was probably only 5 minutes late) when I went down and my neighbour had begun a 1.5hours wash cycle. I was livid, went to knock on her door but for the sake of neighbourly relations, simply told her to inform me when she was done.
Obviously, 1.5hours later, she didnt AND STARTED ANOTHER 1.5hours cycle with her first load in the dryer. Seriously, sod the environment. There will be less neighbourly spats and world peace if we all had our own washer/dryers in our apartments.

One point of clarification. You say you wrote your name on the board to reserve it 8:30-11:00. Went down at 8:00, found that it was due to finish at 8:40. So you went down at 8:45, and found the machine in use, and another name on the board.
So, did he erase your name and write his own name in?

He`ll be back, as the saying goes . . . I think he`s probably pissed because he was found out . . . sneaky ba***rd.
Seriously, this is one of those stupid things that could escalate and if I would you I would go around and speak to him (take OH of course . . we men are so full of ourselves. . . ).
I would tell him that you checked the rota and there was definitely no other name on it.
You have your rights and a visit would let him know that you are not going to be walked over. Try to sort it out there, be firm but just try to come to the agreement that it was a misunderstanding and move on.
However he does need to know that:
a) You are not stupid
and b) He is not the boss around there . | Quote: | | | | | Ok here is the end of this story
