You didn't by chance happen to see one of these just prior to the car pulling out in front of you..?

I drove around here 6 months before I found out what that stupid sign meant, was always wondering why idiots on the road kept pulling out in front of me then flipping me off.
That might be the case for the OP, but I doubt it is in every instance. I have that happen to me regularly when I have the right-of-way. It's just something you learn to deal with here. Just like tailgating and cars passing you then pulling over in front of you and slowing down to a speed lower than the one you were driving before they passed you.

In UK or Netherlands I would agree with you but here I am not sure they won't deliberately bump into you when you try to filter through

No it is not the case. I know what the sign means. It's people coming from housing areas that do it all the time.

From the reactions here I can see that I was right saying "Swiss" drivers do it...

Mmmmm not the answer I have 2 children.
My gran had three kids and drove a Vespa. But then my gran is pretty unusual...

As for the bad behaviour, judging by my driving instructor's muttering, it's not what they're taught...

Re: Ignorant drivers

There is another thing that gets my out of my pants on a regular basis:
When you drive into Zug in the morning on the lakeside road when everybody is out and about, there is this little street that comes from the right, where the casino is. And instead of letting one car in at a time so that drivers on both streets can get on, what do people do? They stop and let everybody in so that the cars on the lakeside road back up from the casino almost to Oberwil.

That annoys me too, very much so, but how can you tell that there are just swissies behind the steeringwheel? I would say that smells more like Norvegian expats or Dutch maybe..

I can't picture the road in my head at the moment, but if I understand your description... if the side road is coming from the right and has priority, the drivers on the lakeside road have no priority. It may be the bigger road, but that doesn't mean the drivers on that one can force their way in.

the side road has not priority, the lake road does.

To make it a bit clearer: The lakeside road has priority. In the morning people are coming into Zug from every direction. There is this side road where cars back up because they have to wait. There are also two pedestrian crossings a little way further down, which is why traffic comes to a standstill every so many minutes. So the normal thing to do for somebody on the lakeside road would be: let one car from the side road in, then move on. But some people just stop and let, say, 10 cars in. As a result, the cars on the lakeside road back up all the way to the next village.

Why is it that Swiss drivers always have to pull out in front of you even if there is nobody behind you for miles causing you to brake hard and then they sit in front of you doing 65 on an 80kmp road? Or 38 on a 50kmh road? Where you might have thought they were in a real hurry pulling out right before you?

Why can't they pass a biker? Or a tractor?

It happens to me every time and again this morning somebody just drove through without even looking which was just one too many Can't they stop, look and wait?

My rant of the day.
Well it's better that compared to how it's done on the highway...
you are in the left lane passing some trucks doing 130km/h, and all of a sudden you see a "fancy" sports car lying 1 cm behind you...wtf is that all about?

...at least they don't do it as in Germany, blinking with the headlights like crazy, hence here they use their blinkers...

Re: Ignorant drivers

Can it be any worse than france.....1 cm behind you with the indicator flashing, flashing their lights and gesticulating madly?

And to add insult to injury they usually have a back to front baseball cap on.....

I take my photo camera, "Always Flash" mode on, hold it with my right hand backwards over my right shoulder, aiming right through the rear window, and trigger it. Needs a little bit of concentration, and of course the photos are unusable, but it sure helps immediately.

They are telling you that 'your speedo is wrong, you are only doing 110 and not the indicated' 130, so GET OUT OF THE WAY'!
