Failing that ask at your Gemeinde/Commune and/or Local Police.
This was my intention. I get over 90 dbs in weekends constantly...

Cool - really grown up putting tin tacks on the road.

As I explained and apologized in PM.. it was a stupid comment.

But if we are playing tit for tat .. as grown up as asking the OP where he lived so you could travel there and make some excess noise with your Buell?

Re: Noise from the street

It's unfortunate that the OP has got noise in an unexpected area (you would expect a modicum of peace in a village, if you had moved from a bustling city) and I know it's a bit late for him now but it's always a good idea to get an impression of daily life from your future neighbours before you make the move.

I know the Swiss don't have a fabulous reputation for being approachable but I guess if you were coaxing them to spill the beans on any noise or disturbances they will be happy to bend your ear for hours.

the only thing they can do is to change their exhaust and fill it with an angry wasps nest.
I live on a residents only road, so it's pretty quite, except for the lad over the road with his Puch Maxi fitted with a Fresco, he must work in McDonalds or something as he's home prompt at 12:15am every day. and some c0ck with a 5 liter Jeep, oh, and I'm on the Basel airport flightpath, so if it ain't one thing, it's another.

That said, I'm sure I've upset enough people over the years with bikes fitted with frescos, allspeed's, a natty KH400 with a three-into-one and noisiest of all, a GPX750R with a Laser pipe. The harmony!

What goes around comes around I suppose.

as the conversation moved to bikes, and noisy ones, you could have put 2+2 together.

Maybe we need a thread on bikes, then the retards will know what the topic is
...if I refrain from doing another snotty comment, will you promise me, that you won't come looking for me with your cool fixed up bike? (my neighbors are light sleepers and they won't like biker boys disturbing the peace)

It depends...does it have a three-into-one, a laser or a fresco in the equation?

I believe as others have tried to tell you, the noise of the vehicles are regulated when they go through the motor vehicle inspection. Agreed, some are louder than others, but unless a significant number of illegal or non-spec vehicles drive by your house, that's the general situation living near/at a street.

Presumably the said "street" that came with package was there when you visited the house before renting/purchasing. I don't think anyone can compensate you now for this 'street' unless it is a new phenomenon. I would suggest looking into installing noise reduction elements such as bushes/wall, or look into moving if it bothers you too much. Complaining to the local authorities will likely backfire and cause you more problems than solutions from the locals.

Re: Noise from the street

I completely understand and sympathize with the point made by the OP. I'd just add that I've found it is cars, more often than bikes, which are the worst culprits in Switzerland. Obviously the after-market exhaust business does a roaring trade here. There is one guy where I live who drives round and round in circles in a black convertible AMG Merc with the hood down in dark glasses even on a cloudy day making quite a racket. There is another bunch of teenagers who cruise around in a white BMW M5 seeing how quickly they can accelerate to the speed limit in first gear... again and again and again. Still neither of these seem to get the female (or male) attention they seem so desperate for.

Surprised to find that in the United States where, contrary to popular misconceptions (and very much in contrast to Switzerland), drivers of Maseratis, Ferraris, Audi S-whatevers, Aston Martins, Dodge Vipers et. al do not feel so insecure or 'wow look at me' as to drive around smaller towns blatting the throttle in neutral, or stuck in first gear so that they cause maximum disturbance. Attention seekers have other outlets for their game there where they don't disturb others!

I never thought when moving to Switzerland I would appreciate the 'peace and quiet' of a holiday in the US (where muffler legislation seems to actually be enforced)

Anyone knows what are the noise rules here?

the most impressive are the churces bells
all hours in night and day
is it possible?
