| | Stuck in traffic for 2 hours
Instead of my quick 15-minute drive home, I got to spend two hours in gridlocked traffic, apparently all due to a truck full of burning horse meat... http://bazonline.ch/basel/land/Brenn...story/27305428
Being stuck in traffic is never fun. But it's the detail of the horse meat that turns a pedestrian truck fire into a story worth retelling. | The following 3 users would like to thank Village Idiot for this useful post:

Hmm, steak....
And you're on your phone whilst in control of a motor vehicle (albeit stationary)? Shame on you.

Ah. That's why the Airport bus (see EF passim) was stuck in traffic. Took me an extra six or seven minutes to get home | The following 2 users would like to thank mirfield for this useful post:

We could have high fived through our car windows while we waited...however I was listening to J-Lo and cursing at the 'the unidentified reason for the wait'. Had I known it was horse meat, I would have waited for some nice jerky. |

Shame on you. | | | | | Reminds me of an evening when I was enroute between Glattbrugg and Wollishofen, and heavy snowfall blocked all passageways accross the major railways as well as through central downtown. I in the end parked the car and went eating in a good French restaurant. When I had finished coffee, most people had gone, and the "failed" cars been transferred to the garages. So that I then easily could go ahead.

Also in the opposite direction there was a long traffic jam, because the highway had to be narrowed because of the smoke and heat and because of the gawkers at a traffic lane. This jam lasted for about five kilometers, the traffic jam was Pratteln at the height of the connector. | | | | | Hang your head in shame... you gawker... you...

I managed to get off the Autobahn & then my GPS found a way through a lot of small streets so I was only (only) delayed about 1 hour.

Of course not. The photos are from the attached news article, shot by a professional photographer who, I'm sure, was nowhere near a vehicle (Swiss reports are very responsible, after all).
My hands were firmly on the wheel at all times, and I was giving my (stationary) driving 100% of my attention.
I wasn't anywhere near the accident, in fact -- but the closure of the motorway paralyzed much of Basel, even kilometers away from the incident.

Hmmm. If you were on a motorbike in that jam, would you legally be expected to wait for two hours in traffic?* That is, is filtering always illegal? *Not that anyone (in their right minds) would. |

I, and everyone else, filter past police cars all the time.

Grrrrrrrr the road rage was rife that's for sure . I was, I must admit, pushing in a bit and this woman rolled down her window and started ranting that I should have entered the single line traffic way back....... yeah, yeah.... I smiled and wished her a nice evening.
I was really shocked to see the burnt out lorry, must have been horrific if you'd been at the scene when it went up. Glad the driver wasn't hurt.
Took me an hour instead of the normal 30 mins to get home... bloody A2, there's always something to hold up the traffic!!!
Happy days!
