Its the language barrier. Most swiss speak very basic english - good english but they dont get slang for instance. Ive bitten my tounge many a time at work when i hear a great one-liner coming up in my brain cause i know they wont get it, whereas an american would LMAO at it.

For the Duck picture, I wouldnt have bothered since the risk is to high they wouldnt even know the term "road block" let alone "honk" as an animal sound. Or even car sound. Save myself the emberracement. Or dumb it down to:

"Hello together, look, so many ducks on the road, the are so many, CAR CANT DRIVE!!" (with swiss accent) HAHAHA
Dear Sweedishguy: They're GEESE and geese 'honk'. Ducks quack.
BUT I'm sure in some parts of America 'honkey' isn't too polite either, so probably best avoided too.

Nothing to do with being Swiss, just that you are a bloke and not a girl, otherwise, atleast I for one would be laughing at your jokes.

My humour is lost on EF.
Humour tends to be a bit of a mystery that only island folk get.
On the other hand, humor...now that gets the crowds goin.

Re: My humour is lost on the Swiss...

This thread reminds me of a joke my ex boss (Swiss) told me (I may have posted it before, so apologies for those who've seen it):

An Englishman, a Frenchman and a German were arguing about the relative merits of their languages; to explain a point the Frenchamn lifted a spoon from the table, saying "French is a beautiful, flowing language, so we call this a 'cuiller', it is a beautiful word, which rolls effortlessly off the tongue". The German took the spoon, "But German is a direct, informative language, so we call this a 'Löffel', short, direct and descriptive". The Englishman then took the spoon, looked at his campanions and said, "In England, we call this a 'spoon', because that's what it is"
