yikes! After 4 weeks of holiday on Mount Rigi, we are so fed up of the weather we are decamping to .. Ticino tomorrow ... so are you saying its raining there too  ??

The rain is supposed to let up on the 1st of August and something like summer should come back after that. Do not dispair, it is only water.

I've experienced a few summers in CH and there does seem to be a cyclical pattern. My first couple of summers here were pretty much as they have been from the last couple of years - a bit damp and not too hot. I wish for the summers from around 2002-2006 - I remember them as hot and sunny - lovely.

The rain is depressing.  We have come here from sunny South Carolina two months ago. I would normally be taking my son to the neighborhood pool with his friends and I would be playing tennis in the sunny mornings with my friends.
I have heard from local Swiss that this has been a most unusal bad summer and that it normally is no like this. I hope that is true!

So that it overall has been worse than usual. But such "summers" occur quite often. I remember one year when autumn in full started on 1st August !
