My former down stairs neighbours were like that. They would usually get started around 12 at night wich was slightly annoying. After a while i started to bang the radiator in sync. They moved shortly after.

Each time the lovebirds begin their rumpy-pumpy invite a 1970's instrumental beat combo into your room to soundtrack the happy event.

Did you at least buy it a drink first?

This did happen once. We were at a rather lovely delightful dinner party when the upstairs neighbours of our hosts started to enjoy a bout of lovin'.
The ceiling must have been made out of kleenex... we all became respectfully very quiet.... and then broke into a round of applause....

When I lived in Millburn, NJ, the guy in the apartment next to me and his girlfriend were very, very busy. She was also a screamer. Fortunately for me, I moved out 6 months later. These people were at it all the time. And their activity was not limited to the bedroom, lucky for me since my bedroom wall was against his. Apparently the elderly woman on the other side of this guy got quite an earful, and her living room was against his. Such fun. Not.

After all these pages and rather negative comments, maybe the title of the thread should be changed to "Neighbour too loud while fracking ".

A friend of mine in Dublin had a similar problem with neighbour's noise. But his problem was a dog (just barking, nothing else). He asked a solictor friend for advice. The solicitor advised to first send a polite anonymous letter stating the problem, and requesting a solution. If that doesn't work, knock on the door and explain that you were the originator of the letter and the noise still causes problems.

In my friend's case, the dog stopped barking upon receipt of the letter (my friend thought that he may have heard a shotgun blast in the night - sorry, - joke ).

However, dogs barking continuously is against the law, whereas your source of noise is (still) legal. I'd try the letter.

Now I'm worried ... whereabouts in Basel?

sometimes it's just too good to be quiet!!
