Sometimes they look mumsy; women who want to wear a short dress but wear the leggings for modesty or to hide bad legs. They are useful and comfortable, but I only wear the bootcut lycra ones. My daughter wears them a lot- she has great legs- long, but I still don't like them. I am just glad that she doesn't wear the see-through ones.
The thing that I took offence to with the see-through tights on the waitress was when she bent down right in front of us so that her butt was almost at face height as we were eating. My sister's boyfriend turned beetroot. I think that she assumed he was paying the bill. It's kind of sleazy and embarrassing.

I've seen see-through leggings and just thought they were a few sizes too small for the arse they encased. Or that someone forgot their skirt over their tights. I find them particularly awful when you can see the label (usually white) through them. I keep trying to read the size.

The see through ones are not attractive.Maybe with a longer top or some suitable underwear. I saw a woman yesterday with lace ones that came mid calf under a tight skirt. They do allow you to sit in short, tight skirts.

However, I wear the ankle length, non see through ones for walking, taking out the dog, physical therapy, yoga etc. with long tops. I have less than perfect legs and I don't really care. Also, on me, long, tunic length tops look silly with loose pants.

my students were wearing these in the u.s. i didn't know it was a fashion trend. i just thought it was poor fashion judgment on their part and they hadn't noticed that it was see through when stretched . still not a fan of them, but at least now i know they were trying to copy a look.

I draw the line somewhere between curvy and disgusting, but this chick has nothing wrong around the bumper, and although she doesn't wear them anywhere close to classy...well, c'mon, it's not disgusting ! It's just cheap, tacky, whatever you want to call it.

Yesterday I saw the leopard print style of those leggings. In full length from waist to ankle. I am ashamed of the designer who draw them. I feel personally in need to apologize for my fellow co-worker in the big world of fashion for creating this awful object of horror.

If I hadn't read that article I would never have known that see-through leggings were a fashion phenomenon - Having seen them around the city here and in the UK, I just thought they were a cheapo version that skimped on the fabric. The type you would pick up on market stalls or Primark.

Somebody will be telling me crappy t-shirts that lose their shape after the first wash are the next big thing...

Leggings are one of the most absurd ugly things put into fashion. It does not favour big asses, which stretch the tissue till it's see-through, and doesn't favour the thin, making them look like tooth-picks.

You can dress in a short skirt without having to wear bloody leggings, and still be comfortable. Or just wear pirate trousers if you’re into marine look.

They just remind me of the ridiculous lycra trousers fashion from the beginning of the 90s. It's a pointless piece of clothing that girls think makes them look sexy because it's like using pantyhose without a skirt (and slutty fashion seems to be the hot stuff). Then it fools lazy men because it's like a chocolate bar with an easy peel off paper...

I prefer a good non-environment friendly candy bar, with tons of different packing, which leaves to the imagination. Makes boys and girls way more sexy and less like pig sausage in a cotton bag.

Me and wifey saw a rather large lady loading up the boot of her car in them transparent leggins the other day. An she didnt have a skirt on either. It was before a subsequently rejected lunch

Leggings also make you fat! They're like bloody grow bags, they just stretch as you get bigger!

Rubbish, if I had to live by what every fashion magazine dictates as to how I should wear my leggings, or dont wear them at all, I would feel like a fat cat on bloated days when I dont feel like wearing my jeans under a comfy shirt.

Plus, some of them did ok with the leggings. Emma Griffith (pic 12) for starters, didnt look too bad at all and Carmen Electra looked hot!

I love my leggings - they are so comfy and easy to match (because they are all black!) with big shirts or under skirts. I just dont fancy showing my bumbum to the world in see through ones or look like a leopard prowling the streets in the animal print ones.

It is definitely a bold clothing choice to wear (what are essentially) tights with no pants or skirt, I first noticed in 2009 that girls where wearing leggings that actually made their arses look amazing, there must have been support or padding or something.

I think only advisable to wear this if you have a hyper athletic rear end/legs, even having said this I often look at the best results of this situation and role my eyes, since when did tights and a t-shirt constitute a look?

I love leggings, they are extremely comfortable. Am I looking good in them? Who cares, I like them. That's what counts. In the end it depends how you wear them.

And you can buy some really nice ones (e.g. leather). The see-through version is a no go, except with a skirt or long blouse.
