Public announcement - Shopping hours to be adjusted

Could we all agree, please, that Grannies (and retirees) should be restricted to shopping outside of rush hour times.

I have no interest, whilst waiting to order my schoggiweggli on my way to work with exact change in hand, in standing behind a Granny who wants 3, no... 4, no... 2, actually 3 of each type of frickin' bread (and we know how many breads there are here) packed in separate bags or together or in random combinations and ordered one at a time.

Granny: YOU HAVE ALL %&ç*ing DAY! Come back another time.

All "workers" should be issued passes to allow them to buy goods in a speedy and efficient manner, avoiding God knows how many hours of lost work due to late arrivals in the office (and, of course posting a moan/complaint about it on EF ) - just think of the productivity gains!

On consideration, we could extend the ban to include people with children, unless of course, they are working parents and on their way to school/crčche. In these instances, they should of course be given the same "pass" to allow them to buy their breakfast.

Thank you for your attention.

Or getting stuck behind some retired guy at a Kisok, by nature an in-n-out sort of enterprise, for 15 minutes while the one cashier is feeding the lotto machine this weeks' numbers (and spending hundreds of francs doing it!). There should be a separate queue for lotto folks.

Very good point. I'll add it to my manifesto. Although surpringly enough, this doesn't just apply to villages, it happens in cities too.

Ah, but you see she doesn't have all day. She could drop dead at any point. Think of the shame and humiliation she would face when her peers came round to find an inferior level of stock in her kitchen. And what would her poor husband do? He can't go shopping for himself! And he can't wait until 9:30 for his choice of breakfast breads. He's got more important things to do. No idea what, but he does.

It's always the same with policy makers and revolutionaries. They just don't think things through.

He was probably quite happy holding up the morning evening rush hour crowd when he was a tax dodging student.

Re: Public announcement - Shopping hours to be adjusted

Actually I think retired people should be banned from Saturday shopping too. Completely. They don't need to do it, so why oh why oh why do I have to dodge 50 grannies having a chat in the supermarket aisles on a bleedin Saturday?

In our village the shops are closed on Monday too. Why? First day of the week? Sorry no breakfast then. (Although to be fair the bakery opens on Sunday morning instead which is jolly nice).

.....and why is it that having selected purchases the concept of exchanging money for said items comes as a complete surprise! Then frantic searching ensues looking for purse followed by deep burrowing to locate the frickin 10rap coin which must be in there somewhere....

Don´t get me started on the kiosk trick....1pm lunch , quick , queue (sort of) of 20 people , 1 cashier. Where´s the other one? Till is unoccupied....oh she´s over there rearranging the Twix bars for the umpteenth time......

Re: Public announcement - Shopping hours to be adjusted

Aww, shopping grannies are sweet! I usually pull out my knitting when I'm in line behind them and just wait for them to finish picking out their gipfeli - earns me a friendly smile and maybe a word or two about how it's So Nice to See Somebody Knitting, Nobody Knits Any More I Used to Knit All My Husband's Socks* and my Children's Too but the Wool Today is Not Like What it Used to Be....

Knitting and old ladies: done wonders for my Swiss German, that combination.

Parsnips and old ladies is another one. Do You Know What You Can Cook with Those We Always Used to Boil Them First and Then... and that's it: there's no stopping her till the full recipe has been imparted and you have promised to make it as soon as you get home.

*don't get any ideas, DB

On the other hand, you lot, when I find my self, by chance, in the Co op in Lausanne at lunchtinme, and kindly let about 15 students with 1 packet of crisps and 1 cola each, in the queue in front of me, WHY OH WHY do they start chatting on ther damned mobile-phones and hold the queue up more than I would have done with the tiny little bit of shopping I can afford on my useless pension?

Re: Public announcement - Shopping hours to be adjusted

Could we extend the grannies banishment to public transport during rush hours too?

Each time I'm going back from the creche with my baby in a pram and my 5 yo, there's always at least one granny ready to stampede us to death to get in the bus first and grab a seat... And another one taking at least 5 min getting in or out of the bus, blocking all the other passengers on the way.

They have all day to go wherever they want, why choose rush hours???

Hey Folks: reality check here.

Those grannies are law-abiding, upright citizens and if they feel any discrimination coming from more than a few non-Swiss residents, you can bet your knitted booties, their anger and frustration will be felt in the next round of voting.

Yep! You're all progressing well towards the heart-attack.
More seats for us grannies.

I am of the mind that things should be open after 6:30 and also on Sundays. Who with an ounce of business savviness shutters their doors when the largest % of their customer base actually has the time to patronize them? $$$$$

But on the bright side.... oh to hell with the bright side!!! I want an Ikea open on Sundays and a 24/7 Coop with a huge sprawling parking lot for my SUV!!!!

I know when I am at retirement age one of my delights in life will be winding up younger people. So I don't get too riled by old folks cramping my style now... to do so would be letting them win!
