@Wolli - Next time we see us at an event you must please give me a run-down of Swiss-German ...er... bad words.

I've totally exhausted my supply in English and need some new material.

Re: Swearing on the Radio..

So on 2 separate occasions, while driving with my 3 year old, some song by Rihanna about shooting a guy has played in the radio. My 3 year old loves the part where she sings "ram pa pa pam" and sings along with it. The second time it played she picked up on the words, something along the line of "mama I shot a man down" and sang along with that too.

I think I'll stick to cd's going forward

For those who were not here in the early 1990s, this was a big hit on the radio:

I suppose it's only a matter of time before this is played on Swiss public television?

@eddiejc1 - This is exactly why my siblings never let me read bedtime stories to their kiddies when they were tiny tots.

@Meisie - You sure you're ready for my kinda Godmoism!?

I recommend Queen. Particularly "Bohemian Rhapsody".
Mama, just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead.
There's nothing new under the sun.

Speaking of Rihanna: what did you do when "come here rude rude boy / can you get it up? / come here rude rude boy / is ya big enough?" was broadcast every other hour or so ("give it to me baby / like boom boom boom")?

Re: Swearing on the Radio..

Personally, I've always been most upset with this priceless piece of modern poetry courtesy of Aussie chick Natalie Imbruglia which she shamelessly toned down in her tune "Torn", I mean, the sheer lack of female balls about rhyming "much" with "luck"?:

"But you crawled beneath my veins
And now I don't care
I have no luck
I don't miss it all that much
There's just so many things
That I can't touch I'm torn"

Repeat ad nauseum....

I have been is Switzerland for 6 months and could rant and rave about many things that drive me mad but if I had to pick one thing I really hate its the public radio stations playing music laden with the F-word.

My 10 and 8 year old have never been exposed to this before but it seems almost unavoidable now.

We were even treated to a song that uses the F-word 12 times while in King Jouet buying toys!

Why do they not use the clean versions like on UK radio?

rant over!
Do kids swear more often just because they hear people swear on the radio? Nope.

Actually, I get admonished by my 2 if I drop the f-bomb.

I let them play LA Noire on the PS3 and one asked me yesterday what "c*nt" meant .

:-) They're going to learn to words anyway. But I'd say it's better if they come and ask you what they mean, giving you a chance to let them know the family-policy on swearing.

I trust you pointed at someone you don't like, or showed them a post on here, and said "there's one".
